Default Help please, brand new computer

Ugh, brand new computer. I believe its a 8.1 and of course windows 8.

I am trying to figure out if there is a way to make this screen smaller.
I can't read the pages with out lots of work

Right click on your desktop screen.

Go to Screen Resolution

Change the appearance of your Display

[p.s. I'm not using 8, but I figure it'll be the same as on mine, not sure]

are you talking about the zoom level. on the right hand side on the bottom is the magnifying glass just click that or in view on the menu you can change the size. if you press the Microsoft key next to the alt it will change the screen.Sounds like you need to download the shell then it will pretty close to windows 7

You can download the manual for windows 8 or 8.1

Is it affecting the computer screen on everything, or only webpages?

If webpages only it would be a browser setting..

Okay, I had to reset the computer. Something had happened and I had
a blank, black screen. Now the sizes are correct also.

Thanks to you both though.

Hi Donna,

I wrote a long msg but deleted it.

It appears that Windows 8.1 is totally different from my computer and therefore the information was useless.

Try reading this...

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/w...r-smaller/?v=t
Windows 8.1 How To.

I find the default settings for text are usually too small, so I keep it set at 125% rather than their default setting of 100%. It can go up to 150% on Win 8 it says there. That may be too big. You'd need to check.

Thanks lara.

I will look at these. I had a co-worker tell me what to try also. And it just
worked.

I have a new problem now. Hopefully she can figure it out tomorrow.

Donna,

I have 8 also (on my lap top for work).

It is not logical but I am getting used to it.

Good luck with it.
