Mad yahoo

My FF has been hijacked by Yahoo, I guess I downloaded it with something else and its sort of Malware. FF comes up but when I search it turns into Yahoo and gives stupid results.

I looked online and found suggestions to fix it in FF extensions/add ons in toolbar but I think it says I don't have any. I tried to look in programs and it also appeared to have nothing hooked onto FF.

So I decided to use Chrome until I figured it out and the second time I opened it THERE WAS STUPID YAHOO. It took the search icon out of Chrome bar and I was forced to click on a blue:

The 'rckt' says WSE Rocket Search in FF.

I was mentioned that if you uninstall FF it just comes back, I guess its in the computer?

I don't know why I cant find it, any ideas?

Thanks,
judi

My copy did not come out the same as it read for me.

Well I just clicked on it and got the promo page, I think I accidentally downloaded it, vague memory of morning fog and clicking.

Something I read said they are not supposed to be linked anymore, is it a virus? How did it get in Chrome? I tried Malwarebytes, didn't fix it.

thanks

Well I think I got it, FF is ok but I got rid of Chrome completely.

I hate it when they offer 2 vaguely worded choices to trick you into getting something you don't want. I just did that with Avast, I was trying to update and ended up with a trial of the paid version. When it ran out and uninstalled itself I got 4 PUPs and maybe the stupid Rocket too.

Too hard for Grandmas.

Judi, I hope it's all fixed now.
I had similar problems recently (talked about it on the PUP thread).
Took me ages to get it all cleaned.

Its still kind of 'off' but I did something else to it trying to fix it so that may be the problem.

I just read that it was supposed to do that, that FF partnered with Yahoo starting this month. I didn't like it, I like technical sites on many things and I get very annoyed being taken to superficial no brainer places.

Sorry, grumpy here. thanks for the good wishes.
