I think we have several things going on. Jeff has a couple of other programs to run then he will uninstall fire fox and reinstall it. fire fox is one of the problems. it keeps crashing then a pop up of "computer repair keeps intruding my posts.
very frustrating.
thanks for your suggestion.

Does Jeff know how to use Hijack this?
other free tools too-
http://free.antivirus.com/us/#cleanup-and-prevention

and how to check the task manager to see if any suspicious programs are running?
some of them are very hard to totally remove.
I usually google any program name to check if I'm not sure on what it is.

It seems that the antivirus program that you are using is not working very well for you..
I used Zone Alarm extreme when we had windows on our computers and very rarely had any problems..

wow the price went up, but you can try the trial to see how you like it.
I had it for many years and as a returning customer you get discounted prices..
I really got tired of the hassles & things that did not get caught when using "free" anti virus programs so it was worth it to me to pay $40 a year ( back then it covered 3 pc too)

I tested / tried all the major anti virus suites long ago and liked zone alarm the best of all. but the others might be better now..
most trials are 30 days so you can rotate testing them and there are 10 major ones to cycle thru...
just be sure to totally remove the old one before adding the new one to test..
In the past Norton has been boggy and very hard to remove, I don't know if that is the same now or not..so i would read about it before trying that one..

so sorry you are having these problems bizi :(

I have edited your thread title as it is not the forums but your computer having these PUPS etc
We do not want others to become alarmed thinking it is here.

Doc has a lot of advanced things in place to ensure the forums remain free of any nasty stuff

Sometimes if you have troubles installing any other AV programs , it could be due to the malware or trojan that are on the pc...

- Only have 1 AV program is installed at a time & only 1 running at a time or it might mess up the new AV install - may "see" the new one as a virus..

If you don't have anything important saved on the pc I'd format & reinstall your OS - or you might be going in circles until the bad actor is totally gone..

You can save your bookmarks and any photos or emails /documents to a flash drive to add them back on the fresh system..

tomorrow I think jeff will reinstall the operating system. wipe it clean.
he has been in touch with kaspersky people and what they have him do doesn't seem to do anything. a friend suggested contacting the internet provider LUS fiber our local people, they may have ideas.
just had an audio pop up....
sigh

Bizi, as far as the audio pop-up is concerned, you (and maybe Jeff) might find the step-by-step instructions here helpful;
