I agree - my other laptop runs under Ubuntu (a Linux dialect). It was easy to install and there are lots of freeware apps (eg, OpenOffice, Firefox and Thunderbird) which run well under Linux.

The only reason that I use Windows on this laptop is that there are some programs (work; my high-end graphing and non-linear regression analysis package) and play (my chess programs) which are not available for Linux.
