On the Corel installing problem -
How does it block it? Does it give an error message or some pop message comes up?
Do you have the corel on a old CD/DVD ,or were you downloading the current version from the website to install?

If an older version on disc , that might be an issue.
But you should be able to download the newer version and use your product key if it is a previously purchased program. *Sometimes they do want you to pay , usually a discounted price for the newer/upgraded program, if your version is many years old.

I have the original disc for the program.

It dies totally... won't load from the icon at all, when it happens.
It doesn't die, from smaller updates. That huge last one about a month or so ago, killed it for the 3rd time.

It is a an old program but I like it and it is easy for me to use.

I found a Corel forum recently with lots of comments. Main opinion is that older programs don't work.

Mine is pretty old, and as long as we reinstall it, it seems to come alive again. I just hope the updates don't kill it too often... sigh.

Thanks, Jo.

We asked our son about this originally posted problem with Thunderbird... and this is what he said:

"The problem appears to come up when you use a Microsoft online account as your login account. There are two options: doing that, and logging in locally only.
I'm going to guess you guys (my hubby and I) set it up locally only, since you don't have any Microsoft online accounts.
You can see how to check and set it to a local account here:" http://www.howtogeek.com/230543/how-...re-hijacks-it/

This seems to me that you can CHANGE your account to local, and then therefore you can use your computer when IP is not connected.

This thread has really been a big learning experience for ME that is for sure!

Ugh that all sounds like such a pain. Win XP was so nice, but none of these new Win versions since then tempt me at all..

I guess I’m not surprised MS tries to get you to make an account with them.. more loss of personal privacy...sheesh

If the Corel problems get too be much hassle , there are free open source programs that are nearly the same..You would have to look at the sites and see screen shots probably , to find the one that matches the best , if you decide to try that route.

found this one-
[with the release of 2.8, Gimpshop has become preferred software for photo & image editing among more professionals than ever. Layers, channels, masks, filters, levels, advanced pattern matching—the remarkable feature list of Gimp is equal to Photoshop in every way except one: the price. Restore, touch up and manipulate photos, create complex animations, or just use Gimpshop as a simple paint program. ]

Thunderbird is Mozilla's, (maker of Firefox browser), email software. I believe they also do scheduling, and contact information as well, but I have not used it in years, so I do not remember.

It's an email program. It will bring your email to your computer, so you don't have to log in online at a website. You can also save your emails in the program on your own computer instead of only online. Or you can save emails both ways..depending on how you set it up.
