Default Why can't I store passwords???

Okay, just fixed Outlook Express but now I have a brand new challenge.

You know when you visit various websites, (such as this one), and you put it in your favorite places, and you just click on the link and zoom, it takes you there and it NEVER ASKS YOU FOR YOUR PASSWORD BECAUSE YOU HAVE STORED IT, or something to that effect......well, ever since the tech guy and I fixed my outlook express problems, for some reason, I have to always type in passwords for every single website I visit.

I go to the neuropathy boards, I have to type in user ID and password. I do check the box "remember my password" but it makes no difference. I am prompted time and time again, to put in user id and password.

I had to put it in this forum just to ask this question. And if I exit and try and go back in again, it will prompt me again.

This has been happening ever since last night.

I go on many websites and I had all my passwords stored.

So what can I do so that my computer will stop making me type in passwords and user id's over and over.

Drives one nuts, believe me.

Thanks to anyone who can help me out here.

Melody

Your browser must be clearing all your cookies and /or cache? - that usually deletes all record of stored passwords.
the cookies for those site's & passwords are what is needed to be kept.

for IE go to internet options
on the general tab - Browsing history - go to view files -and see what kind of stuff is listed

hmm, that's all I can see to change/check - I don't use IE much anymore so hopefully someone more familiar with the settings will add some ideas.

Jo:

Exactly how do I do the Internet Options, general tab thing?

I went to control panel, General, and saw Browsing History but all I saw were two buttons. One said Delete and the other said Settings.

There was no way to view files.

On the top of my screen there is no File.. View.. Edit.

There used to be but right now, there just the place for me to put in the URL, and when I hit either the enter key on my keyboard, or go to the right of the URL , and click the little up and down arrow, then I can go to any website I want.

So how can I see the view files thing?

Thanks so much.

You were close to it-
I must have forgot to write that step
- click on the settings button and that opens the next pop up window where you can view files & objects.

I don't know for sure if that is the problem but it's good to see what is there once in awhile.

I did just as you suggested. I went to settings and view files.

There are 13 items in the temporary internet folder.

So what does this tell you.

I still have to put in a user id and a password every single time.

Very frustrating.

Anybody know???????

melody,

when you go to your Internet Options, the tabs on the top should say:
General, Security, Privacy, Content, Connections, Programs, Advanced.

click on Security.
you will see Icons that say Internet, Local intranet, Trusted, Restricted.

click on Trusted.
click on the box that says Sites.
add the URL of the sites that you want the passwords saved. add them completely http://www.blahblahbla.....

be sure to click save changes or the apply button.

this will allow those sites to use the cookies that will "remember" you.

i hope this helps.
