Default Administrator, please help me!!!!

Hi.

I started a thread sometime ago, titled "My friend cannot access this website".

Her husband's discovery toys url is inside this website. For some reason, whenever they try and go to their discovery toys website, NEUROTALK comes up. It's driving them crazy.

Can you please delete that whole thread.

It's titled "My friend cannot access this website".

I've copied and pasted a link to the thread. Can you take the thread off. Maybe that will stop them from always accessing this site whenever they try to get on their website. I have no idea how this is happening, but they asked me if I could remove this thread.

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ad.php?t=20831

Can you let me know if you can do this??

I'd appreciate this.

Thanks much

Melody

Hi Mel, I don't think the thread here could be the problem - it is that specific thread that keeps coming up for them, or the whole NT site?

I don't know if their Web TV & MSN can save URLs as a bookmark or favorite?
maybe they 'saved" the wrong thing if it does that??

Can you try to email them the link that we used here that worked for us?

Jo:

They have never been to Neurotalk. They don't want to go to Neurotalk. I have never accessed Neurotalk from their house. I haven't been there in over one year.

For some reason, this only pertains to this particular thread "Can't Access etc. etc.". Perhaps when I included their URL in this particular thread, well, I really don't know what is happening.

She said "I put in Ritchie's URL in my address thing, and a link to neurotalks came up. I clicked on the link, and I saw all the postings. I saw your picture.

I think her husband is annoyed that whenever he tries to access his URL, a link to neurotalk comes up.

I have no idea why this is so.

I'm going to try and delete any reference to his website from this thread, but honestly, if you can delete the whole thread, that would be great.

If it can't be done, at least I will have removed their website from this thread.

This should solve their problem, I hope.

I honestly have no idea what the heck is going on.

But I do know, she has never gone to neurotalk, she doesn't save anything. So this must be some kind of fluke, that when she types in his URL, it links to neurotalks. I have no idea why.

Melody

UPDATE: Just tried to delete any reference to his website and I was informed that so many days have passed and I can't edit or do anything. Can you please just remove the web addresses from this thread. I don't care about anything else in the thread, just take off this guys discoverytoys web address, okay???

Also Moose has the URL in his posting. Maybe if there is no mention of the Discovery Toys URL in this thread, maybe that will stop it from popping up every time they try and access their website.

I'd appreciate it.

Thanks much.

Now I have no idea what's going to happen.

If they put his website in their url place, and this thread comes up (even though you took out the links), well, then I have no clue.

This whole thing baffles the heck out of me.

I'm going to their home tomorrow afternoon. I want to see for myself what the heck she is talking about.

I'll update you.

And I do thank you for removing the URL's. Although I can't for the life of me understand why they interferred with his getting to his own website. Makes no sense. Maybe it's ALIENS!!!!! lol

Thanks much.

Hi Jo:

I just went over to where they live. I sat in front of their WEB tv.

There was a place where you would in a web address. Above this place it said "Key Word, phrase or web address". To the left were the words MSN. I knew immediately that this place was a search engine.

She put in Richard's discovery toys website, and a link to his website came up, but no more Neuro Talk came up.

She said "Oh wow, what did you do??" I said 'we took off the links that were inside the forum".

I then told her "how do you directly go to any website? She said 'Oh, I just go on my keyboard and press the go to button, and a little thing pops up on the screen, and I type in the web address and hit "go".

This is what I said to her (correct me if I'm wrong).

I said 'The top of your screen is now a search engine, (I explained that any place it says to put in a keyword, well, that it's doing a search, it's not a browser). Then I said "when you go to your keyboard, and bring up the "go to" thing, THAT IS YOUR BROWSER and typing in any website url will immediately take you directly to that website.

I proved this by showing her what happened if went to the top of her screen and typed in the word EBAY. A whole bunch of links including the home page of EBAY showed up.

Next i told her to hit the go to button on her keyboard, a little window popped up on her screen, and I told her to put in Richard's URL. Sure enough, when she did this, and moved the cursor to the word "go", it took her directly to her husband's discovery toys website.

So now she knows that the top of her webtv screen is a search engine, and if she brings up the "go to" thing from her keyboard, THAT IS HOW SHE CAN GET TO ANY WEBSITE SHE WANTS.

We did this a number of times and I was right on the money each time.

So what do you thinK???

I told her to save her money to buy a computer because if I had to sit in front of a tv set and do this web tv thing, I'd shoot myself. It takes forever to go ANYWHERE with the web tv.

She's okay with it. It's only 20 years old. lol

Thanks much, just wanted to update you.
