Default Avatar?

Good Morning!
I am attempting to attach an Avatar. It doesn't seem to be saving. I have a .gif file saved on c: - I am using the Control Panel browse option to find it then am hitting the save button. It doesn't seem to be saving on the CP page. What am I doing wrong? Help??
