Can someone walk me through how to post a pic from an email I downloaded as my avatar?
The instructions seem simple enough, but I'm not doing something right. Thanks.

the best way is to resize the picture first and save the new size with a new name.
[ Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 80 by 80 pixels or 64.0 KB (whichever is smaller).] my internet is really being slow tonite - but if you get the size right it should work for you. I'll check back later.

If you need help with resizing the picture let us know.
I usually use the Paint program that comes with windows and use the Image - stretch/skew and reduce it by 50% and then more or less again until it looks about size of the avatars here. Then do the upload & save part shown on moose's post. It may say upload failed - but don't believe that - check it first yourself - look at one of your posts to see if the new avatar shows or not.

Thank you all so much. Especially you moose53. I was wondering when we would meet.
I definitely have to learn more about the ins and outs of a computer. |

and I will send you my email... and I can fix the photo for you.
I've made many avatars for people over the years. I like doing it..it is fun for me. You can still learn, but you will have the avatar up while you doing so. Some photos, with high resolution, and depending on content do not reduce well, so keep that in mind. If you did a huge pixel thing..with one of the new cameras at high res... the pixels will not relate down to 80 x80 clearly, even with smart size and other tricks.

Click on:
● [start] ● search ● files or folders ● Search for files or folders named: *.jpg, *.bmp, *.gif, *.png ● Look in: My Computer ● Click on: [search now] ● When the search completes, click on the the column heading that contains the 'Date Modified'. You might have to click the heading a couple of times. The date column will sort by date. When you get the most recent dates near the top of the list, you'll probably find your file. Barb PS: Glad you realize it's the 'computer' that's "stupid" and NOT The Moose ![]() |
