Arrow iPhone experiences...

Well, this summer my son visited, and brought his iPhone.

We logged on here with it and it did work with this forum.
However, it was really SLOW.. Not the fault of this forum, of course, but the internet telephone link.

I found the thing both equally fascinating and frustrating.
Fascinating...in that we could access Weather.com and email.
Also it has a virtual Koi fish program that is relaxing. Perfect for waiting for the doctor/dentist You can even feed the fish.
The screen automatically shifts when you move the phone from vertical to horizontal.

But the frustrating part was how fast it depletes the battery. On an island with no electricity this was a factor.
Also the touch screen does not work with fingernails. You need fingertips exposed, and the nail really cut or bitten far back (I don't like that at all). People with carpal tunnel or other neuro issues would have problems I suspect. You have to enlarge the screen all the time. It reverts to tiny on every page change. And I mean tiny=minute. There is no cache, so each page has to load from the beginning which was very time consuming.

I could not type on the touch pad, and even my son had some problems. The program puts capital letters in the middle of words without hitting the shift key.

Considering how much these cost (my son got his for a yearly bonus from his job at Xmas) and how much the internet fees are, I found it highly overrated. It will be interesting to see if they improve them. According to my son, the iPhone still does not work with certain video formats or programs. He was surprised that we could post with it, in fact.

For short communications, it seems fine. But I can't see doing much else on it at this time. He did load a picture from the camera and sent it to his Dad in email...it is a joke like you see on I Can Cheezeburger. There is a program to put text on the picture and modify it somewhat. APPLE is very good with graphics, so this is understandable.

Our middle cat is fixated on the water bucket on the shore.
We have to refill it each day...she is a maven for fresh water.
No stale water for HER! LOL

Daughter tried an Ipod touch {refurbished} it didn't connect to the public internet like it says it should - only connected to our home network -
so sent it back
they do charge for open box 19.95 - how you supposed to know if it works right or not without opening the box

they gave me the run around on returning it too.
phone guy says {even though I bought it online} - yes, you can return it at a store ....so i drive to 2 diff stores {60 miles total} and get the same story - "oh no you can't return that here"
{the store mangers were just kids also!}

so then i have to come back home an print out a return label and drive 12 miles to the nearest UPS and pay for return shipping.

I will not buy anything from Apple again
