the funny thing withmonitors is... that if the older monitor had a resolution set to high it would also make the monitor not show a picture. i have had this happen a few times over the years. so i usually set up a new monor that i know is better and if it turns on then i set the resolution a bit lower. like standard 640 resolution then gradually build it up to 1024x 768 . whichis where i keep mine at. it can go up almost three times that but then everything would be soooo small...

try with the monitor that works. to set it up to a lower resolution. then turn off computer. hook up old monitor with a new cable and see if the picture comes on. if it does boot up with it then you can change monitor resolution a bit highr at a time to see when it brok at.

sound good...

I wonder why my computer crashed when it was turned off when I hooked the old monitor up. I thought that monitors were plug and go?

That is odd - I don't think the monitor should have caused anything like that.. it's just a screen to show what the computer:confused: is doing...

Let us know if it OK after you get it all back to your normal set up.:grouphug:

Thank you Roger and Jo.

Roger I think I will sell the monitor as is.

Jo, the monitor did let me see something about strange hardware before it started blinking. Also, I had to hit the power button to shut the puter off so I could switch monitors. That could have caused it to some how crash. My puter I think shut down on it's on or something cause it went off twice. My puter was never shut off twice the wrong way so that may have had something to do with it crashing.
