Wink update on DVD music...

My son is here today, helping me photograph some of my work, and help us with computer stuff.

He downloaded a program called Audacity 1.3 Beta, to
convert my DVD to sound only.
He says as long as it is for private use (and not distributed)
it is okay. (so I won't be guilty?) I did buy the DVD, so I really didn't "steal" anything.

It converted the 3 songs I wanted easily and they exported to
Windows media play easily. We had to do some fiddling with changing the titles to be more accurate, but it went very well.

I am so pleased. This one cut is so superior to the Pure album,
the tinny irritating quality from the Pure album is not there at all..and I have Sophie, her beautifully talented sister doing the harmony.

He says this program will record anything that goes from your sound card to the speakers! I suppose this could be abused by some people, but it might be handy for live CE's on the net for me professionally etc.

Its good your son was able to help you. As with all music, video or programs if ones use is for private use only and not distribution then its ok. But then on the other hand. There are some that would argue that even with your son stripping the audio track from the dvd to use in you media player or i pod for example is breaking the copywrite infringement laws as stated in the terms of use for the dvd you purchased.

Sounds like im the devils advocate but heck im a power user of the internet and enjoy every megabyte thats availabvle to us in the world.

Roger.

Enjoy your music.
