Guys-
Now that I've finally broken down and got HS connection, I'm looking to be able to chat. Just wondering which might be the best one to get and where to get it. Thanks. joe |

Thank you newbie...I hadn't noticed the addition of chat rooms before.
And thanks to Doc John to adding them!

I'm speaking of chats such as Yahoo, Google or AIM.

Joe,
I've not tried Google. But, of the other two, my pref. is Yahoo - works well (reliably) on dial-in and with HS . |

Yahoo is good so is MSN... I wouldn't touch AIM with a ten foot barge pole.

I'd recommend a program called trillian. It's a IM (instant messenger) management program. This way you can have one program running but be able to chat on multiple chat clients. It's so much cleaner to install and looks so much better than the others do. You will have to register with the other chat clients though. This means going to say icq.com for example and signing up. Same with yahoo and msn. Download Trillian 3 here for free |

wow ZS what a blast from the past (trillian) I used to really like that program, until I found yahoo best suited my needs.
Haven't tried google, aim - been ages since I used that. Msn is ok and good for sharing files or remote assistance, but I prefer yahoo because it will send messages when the person is offline. helps when you talk to friends in different time zones. ps - remember the days when you had to backup your contact list or it was lost? argh!! Now the chat server hangs onto it (at least yahoo does)....reload software and voila, back in business. |

I must agree with ZS. Trillian is most definitely the way to go since it gives you a variety of options (and variety IS the spice of life ) Keep the sun shining in your heart SW Last edited by ScratchW; 09-20-2006 at 02:11 AM. |
