Default My friend Jack

Jack died on Wednesday night. His memorial service will be on Sunday and his wife will sit shiva on Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

I talked to Jack only three weeks ago. He told me his diagnosis of liver cancer. His voice cracked. He knew he was facing his mortality, so did I but we shared that it was only one more thing added to our lives.

I did not expect him to go so quickly.

He was a blessing in my life.

It will be hard to say goodbye. It will be hard not to cry uncontrollably.

The hardest thing will be to face life without him. I did not feel alone in a crowd because he had his white cane with the red tip and I had my walker. The two of us with visible handicaps in a crowd of people moving with ease.

I know your DW, your children and grandchildren will miss you so much.

I am sure your closest friends will grieve at the loss.

I will miss you very much. You were a hero to me.
