Reflections - Mouse

What does Christmas mean to me?
Turkey, mistletoe and tree
Candles, cooking and the sounds
Of bells, of airports - snowbound
Of shopping, relatives and fights
Of accidents and Christmas lights
Of Christmas music, and decorations
Of too much booze and loud declarations

Till I wish sometimes that I could be
The silent mouse, ‘neath the Christmas tree
I’d nibble the cookies crumbs on the plate
Left over after Santa ate
Dream sweet dreams, oblivious
To Christmas fuss - now Christmas hush
