Thumbs Up

Thanks, when I write, the words just flow through me,it doesn't seem to take much thought,it just comes natural.I've been writing since Junior High school,I used to win short story contests, but the poetry was always just a coping skill, and the way I expressed my feelings in my diary. Each poem I've shared or ever written(other than the one for BMW)is just a page from my diary, and the hospital one, that was just a spur of the moment thing! But the more I wrote, the more the words just came.I did hit a period of writers block,at one point in my life, when I was so stressed that I couldn't even think straight, and it was hard for me,not being able to write. So I thank God for giving me this gift, because I've felt what it feels like when it's gone!
I feel like when you're given a gift,it's only right to share it with others.Even though some people have to buy the books some are in,if they contacted me,I would send them a copy for free!
Just like "The Road to Recovery",it's circulating throughout the AA program in my county and the next one over,at no charge! I knew they were having a huge all day function, picnic thing,so I made tons of copies, and sent them to both counties to put out on the tables where the flyers were so whoever wanted them, had free copies! And I heard they went like hot cakes! My landlord is the head of the AA program in this county,so he took them there for me.My brother passed copies around the county jail, and it's become popular thier to,more inmates have been willing to go to rehab, after reading my poem, and that makes me feel like I'm not a failure! It helped me stay clean and sober,so I wanted to help others to!

Heart

"A True Friend"
Through out my life, true friends I've had few. After my
fathers passing, that left two.A true friend is someone
who loves you for you.Not for someone they want you to
be.They really care about the "real you".On a rainy
day, you're still in thier thoughts. They still love you
when you mess up.Even if you get caught.Thier by your
side to show support and love. When you're down, they're
there to give you that needed hug. They don't judge you
on those day's you have your up's and down's.On your
up's they're smiling with you.On your down's,they know
just what to say to turn that frown upside down. They go
out of thier way to brighten your day. When the chips
are down,they make dip.They don't run away.Though I
don't see them much, because they live too far away.
Thier in my heart, and it's them that keeps it beating.
What else can I say.True friends like that, are hard to
find.If it weren't for them,in life I'd be blind.To
those friends, who know who they are. Thanks for being
true.Because without you,thier would be no me,defined.

I wrote this poem for my best friend, to give to her as a gift before she moved out of state! I don't have a lot of riches, so I gave her my talent as a gift. She loved it!

"Man of my Dreams"
The man I seek is strong and proud. He may
express anger, yet not too loud.He loves
children, but oh so gentle with his touch. He
must be loving and kind to all he meets.
However loyal to his family, because they are
for keeps. He must be protective of me,his
children as well.Keep us from harm, with
safety we cannot fail.He must be honest in
all his affairs.Know what's his is his,and
whats theirs is theirs. His love must be
strong for when times get tough. He must be
understanding of my strengths, and my fears.
Be there to comfort me through all of the
tears.Men like these are hard to find.It
would be safe to say he'd be one of a kind.I
know someday this man will come. When I see
this man I will know that it's him.When I
look in his eyes, our hearts will embrace, and
the lights will go dim.

I wrote this, after my fiance tried to end my life in 2004. I just was expressing the kind of man I wished I could have.
