Default Unbelievable...

breathing dust
drying the lungs
exhaustion lasting
for months
years of walking
blistered feet
trudging through
the blinding heat
5 miles behind
10 more to go
sack on her shoulder
what does it hold?
one meal today
maybe two
no one to tell
her troubles to
reality slipped
a long time ago
right from her mind
what does she know?
one place to sleep
it's crowded
it stinks
stand in a line
for two hours
maybe more
all that time
before they
open the door
it's out of necessity though
you want to make sure
you get to go
inside for the night
away from the dangers
away from the strangers
who are waiting in the streets
waiting to do things
things you don't want to know
things so very cold
to lift yourself
from this position
is nearly impossible
but, it's your mission
to get up
to get out
to get on with life
where it's not
such a fight
the way people look at you
is something so unbelievable too....
