Just reviving an ancient thread...

DW & I are a team in many of our hobbies—quilting being one. I design (EQ 7)—she quilts (constructs). We're currently exploring crazy quilts; working with velvet presents some new/different/unique challenges.

So many ideas—so little time...

I don't know if anyone will see this or not, but I am making my first quilt, a rag quilt with flannel and denim. Here's a few pics to check out. This first one is showing the leopard flannel blocks, and denim blocks, as well as my second quilt project materials, the autism awareness puzzle fabric and royal blue will be for my son's rag quilt:

This is a digital preview i made in MS Paint of what I'm doing with the denim to make a design out of it all, the star pocketed jeans in the first photo will have the pocket's cut and put as the center blocks in both our quilts.

Here is my test quilt panels I made into a cute tote bag with some leftover black denim I had on hand. Cool huh?

I'll be sure to share photos of both as I make them.

Cool jeans; all I've ever had/used/worn have been Levis & Land's End (nothing flashy). Are you leaving the pockets intact (functional)? I'm doing that as a feature on all my crazy quilts (and denim if I ever do one). Current project(s) are using the front right pockets (with the little watch pockets) as center patches. I embroidered Gollum below with, "What's it got in its pocketses?"

Oh my goodness that sounds awesome!!! I don't have any way to embroider, but I really like seeing it done! I didn't wear any of these, except the dress with the bodice, it never stayed closed properly so it was destined to become quilt blocks....LOL!

You mentioned you've sewn by hand; there's still redwork & blackwork.

Today I digitized some op-art (kind of like blackwork—but with the idea that the machine will do it if it can be fixed).

I haven't posted in a long long time....I LOVE your blue jean bag! Very cute! I do want to see pictures when you make your quilt. I have been saving jeans with the intention of doing handbags and just haven't done them. Your bag is peaking my interest to actually DO something with all those jeans!

Wink

Anyway you measure it.... quilts are lots of work.

My friend hand sews all the squares, and borders. Then uses
a machine for other tasks. She prefers to take the final piece to
someone with a quilting arm...and have the quilting put in that way.

She says in the shows, the hand stitches are part of the judging.
Her stitches are truly amazing IMO. My right hand goes numb just looking at them! LOL
