Oh my goodness that sounds awesome!!! I don't have any way to embroider, but I really like seeing it done! I didn't wear any of these, except the dress with the bodice, it never stayed closed properly so it was destined to become quilt blocks....LOL!

Today I digitized some op-art (kind of like blackwork—but with the idea that the machine will do it if it can be fixed). Doc |
I don't know what those technical terms mean but I am guessing it has to do with the hand embroidery techniques. :D My quilt is going to have some embroidery on it, but nothing that I have done, it's flowers and vines from the dress I could never get to close properly. LOL!

They're just some of the older (and simpler) techniques suitable for handwork ('cuz that's all they had/could do). Some crossover with cross stitch.

Thank you Dr. Smith! I'll check those links out soon! I am so on edge waiting to hear about my machine....

I haven't posted in a long long time....I LOVE your blue jean bag! Very cute! I do want to see pictures when you make your quilt. I have been saving jeans with the intention of doing handbags and just haven't done them. Your bag is peaking my interest to actually DO something with all those jeans! :)

Anyway you measure it.... quilts are lots of work.
My friend hand sews all the squares, and borders. Then uses a machine for other tasks. She prefers to take the final piece to someone with a quilting arm...and have the quilting put in that way. She says in the shows, the hand stitches are part of the judging. Her stitches are truly amazing IMO. My right hand goes numb just looking at them! LOL |
