Passion's like a fire!
Burns deep within my heart,
Heightens my desire-
To live, that's a start!

As she held the baby to her breast
A made-up song of happiness
And of all being right with the world

It was that way for too short of a time
Although the days seemed long
Spent in the harsh little waiting room
Peeking through the ICU window slats

Now she sings a mournful song
About how nothing’s right in the world
She still sings a baby lullabye
But with only a photo clutched to her breast

*In honor of all the mothers I have watched hope against hope until all hope was lost and their baby slipped away to take a journey-a journey that one mother said was much too long of a journey for such a tiny soul to take all alone.

My Song Of Joy-BMW-
I did sing a song of joy on a certain day
when I got back home again,
and the pain had slid away.
I found some good in life once more
and saw how far I've come
not in mileS but as in now and from before
I sang a song of joy as silent as it was loud
A song of joy that did echo off the cloud.

Cool Down

I wrote the letter hurredly
wanting to get my feelings out
Frustration, Defensive, and Blame
All true feelings, but so intense

Luckily, knowing how dangerous E-mail can be...
I printed it off and sat with it awhile
Cooled down a lot and rewrote my words
Now a kindler, gentler version can be sent

But will it bring the desired effect
Hands reaching inside his heart
To wring out empathy for me and my story
Will it bring about a new start

Maybe I shouldn't have cooled down
And just left my feelings presented raw
would it have hurt or would it have helped
Maybe time will tell

Lemon slices cut just so
and perched sugared on the rim
The lemonade was so fancy and refreshing
I'm sure it was a sin

A dozen lemons, halved and seeded
Mixed with ice and sugar in the big antique jar
Topped off the picnic with perfect grace
And left smiles upon her face

Now lemonade is a little simpler
Shake the packet of powder in a bottle of water
And you are good to go
But with the same results-a perfect drink
To cool down the summer heat

Drinking it on a front porch swing
Seems an ideal way to enjoy
But drinking it "au naturel" is also a choice
And one that's hard to beat
