Default The Calm Before the Storm

(a poem I wrote in 2000)

A whirlwind
As the search never begins
But also never ends
It continues to spiral in madness

So much energy from this madness
Rises up to the brim
Until suddenly the rain falls
And the void comes

But the search remains in hysteria

The storm builds
Again and again
Always collecting
The remnants of the storm before

The storm leaves the search in a frenzy

The wind howls
It cries a great sound
Until the core falls short
And the energy is lost and the storm dies

The frenzy leaves the search void of vigor

The storm is an outsider
It feels its own outlandishness
It is this feeling that causes the fear--
The fear of being left alone

Again, the storm dies

Its hope fades to nothing
Its fears escalate until
They creep inside and steal all the energy
All the energy that is left

Again,
The storm dies.
