Twink...... Australia is usually lush and green given normal weather conditions. We have more rain forests here than deserts.

More rain forests than deserts in Oz? Whenever I think of the "outback," I picture something very dry and desert -- like here in Utah. Utah is the 2nd most arid state in USA, after Nevada.

Thanks for setting me straight!

Lightbulb wonderful!

These pieces are so wonderful!

Destroyed? I can't imagine that even!

We both love them, so my husband searched for more info like he often does....

http://www.flickr.com/photos/benrobe...7594468071832/

There are more pictures on that link and also Mr. Torfs website.
Just click on a small one and it will enlarge.
The website gives a little biography too.

Now my husband has said... "you know we have lots of
stumps and wood up North... you can try your hand there"!
I say.... "yeah, sure"... LOL
(he thinks I can do anything!)

Heart

http://www.brunosart.com/index.htm

Quote:
Unfortunately on the 7th of February 2009 a bushfire raged through the township, decimating everything in its path without mercy and claimed the lives of our friends and neighbours indiscriminately. Bruno was extremely lucky to survive and the rest of the family are safe and well.
Quote:
Bruno, myself, and the family have made the choice to rebuild the gardens and have already begun our quest. Hear is Brunos vision for the future in his own words.

"We want to restore the garden as quickly as possible. If we can bring people back to Marysville soon, this will bring much needed hope to the community. It is going to be a difficult and challenging time, but everyone from the town I have spoken to has a lot of optimism despite losing so much. We will recover."
Love you Bruno!

The residents of Marysville were finally allowed to go back to their homes a few days ago.

Bushfire-ravaged: Residents of Marysville are being allowed back into the area
(AAP: Julian Smith)

Residents of Marysville, where at least 45 people died during Victoria's bushfires almost six weeks ago, are being allowed back into their town today.

http://www.brunosart.com/
Quote:
Bruno's home and art gallery were completely destroyed in the blaze, with Bruno only managing to save a handful of paintings. The damage to the main attraction, the sculpture garden, is yet to be discerned as we are unable to return to Marysville until the police have finished investigating the scene and identifying the remains of those who perished in the fire.
