Default Awesome!

We actually have a dental forum now. I'm so glad that it's actually happened, and thank you John and everyone else who managed to make it happen!

Now I have a question that I'm hoping a dental "expert" here might be able to help me with. I've had an undiagnosed chronic illness for nearly five years now. A little over a year ago, I began having serious problems with my teeth, seemingly for no reason at all. Up until then, my teeth were all relatively healthy. Then suddenly the enamel began flaking off of them.

For months I let it go, because I was more concerned in finding the cause to my larger physical illness. I figured I could worry about my teeth later. But they just kept getting worse, and then portions of some of my upper teeth actually began breaking off. I finally made it to a dentist, who told me that the enamel and bone of my teeth had both gotten extremely soft. Plus I was suffering from what he called "dry mouth disease". I wasn't producing enough saliva. Now I need over $5,000 worth of dental work, and even then he isn't sure the repairs will last. Because my teeth are so soft, any repairs might fail withing a few months.

Has anyone had experience with anything like this? The dentist says it could be caused by one of the many medications I was experimented on with. Or it could be a result of my illness. But I don't believe the illness part because since I quit taking all those meds, my dental deterioration has slowed dramatically. But I still need all that work.

Any input or info would greatly be appreciated! I have to do something about this very soon, and I'm totally at a loss. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out!

Best Wishes,
Idealist
