Hi , I am new here and looking for some advice for my daughter. 3 weeks ago she awoke with her jaw angled to one side. Following a visit to A&E and then a Maxillofacial unit it was realigned but the joints were not restored to the correct position. She is unable to open her mouth.She has waited 3 weeks for an MRI to determine the problem and was due to see the consultant tomorrow but because of the snow (uk) the hospitals are cancelling out patient appointments. I am concerned that this long delay is causing further damage.
What should she do.

How old is your daughter?

Any injury/swelling, bruises, fall off the bed, sleep walking??
could she be hyper mobile - lax joints?
Could be just an odd pinched nerve causing the jaw to go out.

Possibly an expert chiropractor could help figure it out- or at least give an evaluation and thoughts on what might be the trouble. They study on the bones/joints and related body systems more hours than MDs.

Chiropractors are able to adjust much more than only the spine, mine has adjusted my elbows, ribs, wrist, shoulder... I have hyper mobile joints so things go out quite easily sometimes.

My daughter is 30 and does have a hip that subluxes. Always been told this was a shallow socket congenital problem which was detected at 2months.
She does grind her teeth but has never been offered treatment for this.

Well, In the event as she had not been called and told not to go she decided to go along to the appointment and hope that they would see her and they did.
The MRI has shown that the left joint has relocated but right joint has not due to an obstruction. The consultant thinks the obstruction is a blood clot which given time will reabsorb. She has come away with pain killers and an appointment for after Christmas. I know these things take time but if it does not go back before her next visit it will have been out for 2 months. Not sure if the blood clot can become scar tissue in which case will it ever go back?
