Default For all you dental phobics out there

I am one of you, have been for over 56 years. I was 5 when my mother took me with her when she got all her teeth extracted. I will NEVER forget that experience and it set me up for LIFE!!!! The ignorance of people all those years ago. It leaves mental images in our heads of things we don't wish to remember but can't forget.

I'd like to introduce you to my dentist. Dr. Michael Krochak. Saw him today and got a cleaning from the best dental hygienist in the world. Her name is Martha and she is wonderful.

He is actually on youtube. He is a phobia specialist. I just watched him speak about dental phobia and how he helps people.

He is in NYC. Highly recommend him.

If anyone has any questions just pm me or put it on this thread.

We all need to help each other in this world.

And I'm diabetic and we really need to take care of our teeth.

Take care
Melody

He makes a lot of sense doesn't he? It starts in childhood. I had such horrible experiences as a kid, it stayed with me. No one understood. They would just shrug their shoulders and get exasperated. We don't need shrugging of shoulders. We need compassion.

Hope you are doing well

Melody

Hi Melody,

Yes, he makes alot of sense... I agree that fear is very real and it cannot be "medicated" away nor should it be shrugged off as insignificant.

I too have terrible childhood memories of being in the dental chair because my dentist did not give anesthetic for fillings and worse yet...at the onset of every appointment, he would sternly tell me to sit still and be quiet! I seriously disliked him and felt violated by his demeanor towards me. But that was the norm back then..... and no one questioned it. I think the profession has gotten more compassionate over time... of course there will always be some jerks that won't welcome the change.

I am doing well, thanks! Hope you are also ;-)
