Default Periodontal Deep Cleaning

Does anyone here have any experience with this deep cleaning procedure? I am about to have this done but am concerned. First, I am a fanatic about my teeth; go to all my cleanings, etc., etc. However, I will say I am very lax about flossing and yep, my fault. Now, I am told after only a year that I need this done due to inflammation of the gums. But I don't see it, nor feel it nor even have any bleeding. Anyway, being a chronic pain patient with Central Pain Syndrome, this is yet another concern. They will numb me up but I worry about potential for infection as they said they don't prescribe antibiotics. Maybe I am worrying for nothing...but help! Oh, oops, forgot, the numbers were good most of the way around; just a few over 3. And in a way, I feel that I MIGHT be getting scammed. Then again, I have had my dentist for over 28 years..ugh confused. Thanks!
