Default Bryanna, need help AGAIN :)

Ok long time not talk, how are you ?
I have a bad habit of biting the inside of my cheek, probbaly mostly stress and when eating certin times of the year.
I noticed it was sore and my stress level has been high and I looked in the mirror and right back between where my top and bttom molars wold bite my cheek I have 3 dark red blood blisters and a small cut above them,
They are about 1/4" in dia and I even see like a small cut on the tip of my tounge. Ill be honest I go thru stages of biting my cheek and sometimes my front lip usually a few times a year so its not uncommon but usually I only see one spot where I bite it.

I have been wearing my night guard but im sure I could still bite in my sleep. I get nervous about mouth cancer or something but everything I see it doesnt look like that, if anything it looks like angina bullosa hemorrhagica pics I have seen.

I am on aspirin and Plavix so any bleeding or anything looks alot worse..
Whacha think ?
Thanks

Hey there cvcman!

Nice to hear from you! I'm doing well, thanks

Okay.... a lot of people bite their cheek or the inside of their lip as a nervous habit and the tissue can get pretty chewed up. In people who do this often, the lesions frequently become scar tissue .... similar to a callous. However, any chronic irritation can become a more serious problem as the cells can change and become mutated. Of course that would not be a good thing to happen. So it is best if you could stop yourself from doing this whenever you are aware of it. And certainly stop doing it when you see that you have develop a sore spot.

You could have angina bullosa.... good detective work Or it could be any number of other things. Sometimes oral lesions are related to the blood thinners that people are taking. A condition called Thrombocytepenia is seen in the mouth of some people who take blood thinners.

I would suggest that you visit your dentist to let him see what it looks like while active. Then he may have you come back in 2 weeks to check it again. That would be the safest best......

Hope all else is well with you.... have a great weekend!

Bryanna

Oh for crying out loud..... you are falling apart! Just when I think I have you all patched up... you go and get something else... :/

I definitely think you should see your dentist this week and show him the blood blisters. Make a list of the history of them .... for ex: when you've seen them, how often, where they were located, how long they last, how large or small they are...... and bring that list to your dental appt.

Also... do yourself a favor, if you are not already ... please take a probiotic supplement every day... especially since you are on an antibiotic. I personally use this every single day and recommend a product called Culturelle. You can buy it in any drugstore or online at vitacost.com. This is very beneficial to the health of your digestive tract and your immune system.

Let me know how you're doing... and please try to stay out of trouble!!

Okay, good.

Rinse with salt water only, not peroxide. You just need to use a pinch of salt in a 3 oz cup of warm water 2-3 times a day. The peroxide would not be useful in this situation and could be more irritating than anything else.

I cannot imagine having that balloon thing in my nose... that would drive me crazy. Hopefully this will be the one and only time that you have to go through that!!

If you have seasonal allergies, something that might help is using a saline nasal wash. You can make your own with warm salted water.. put a little in your palm and sniff it up into each nostril. The choking that might occur will stop... OR you can buy it as a nose spray at a supermarket or drugstore.... make sure it's just saline and nothing else. The saline does help to keep the airways clear, moistens the tissue and reduces inflammation.

Okay... it's time for you to feel all better now. :->

Default After the root canal, after the crown, after the gum surgery

I have read a couple posts on here and I am hoping that you can let me know what is going on. I just had that surgery that starts with an "a". All in one month, I have had a root canal, put a crown on and surgical procedure on the gums. They said that this will fix the problem and that I will be healed 100% by 4/23. I had this done on 4/17 and had the sutures taken out on 4/20. I am still in pain on that tooth. I think it is #26. On the lower left side, in front. Like somebody said it just the way I do in an earlier post, I feel like my tooth is larger than others, I cant bite down on it without serious pain. I feel like its in the way. But it doesnt look like its in the way. The dentist did a vertical incision on me and they said that hurts more, but still I am back to the same pain that I went in there with before my surgery. Can you tell me what is going on and if its way more than my tooth? Thanks

Hi Scott,

The surgical procedure that is done on a root canaled tooth (although it can be done on a non root canaled tooth also) is called an Apicoectomy. It is considered a surgical root canal. This procedure is done when the infection within the tooth has spread to the jawbone, which by the way commonly occurs in root canaled teeth. Because there is no access to the millions of microscopic canals within the tooth, this procedure does not solve the infection so it will continue to thrive and proliferate beyond the tooth. Another downside to this procedure that your dentist should have informed you of is that the continuation of infection will cause further deterioration of the bone complicating the replacement of this tooth in the future.

Your tooth feels "longer" because it is inflamed and the ligament that holds the tooth in the bone is overwhelmed with bacteria and inflammation. Your immune system is trying to deal with this bacteria and the pain is inevitable until the inflammation subsides. I know what you have been told by your dentist, but the truth of the matter is that this tooth will continue to be infected and unfortunately the only way to solve the problem would be to remove the source of the infection which is the tooth.

I'm sorry to bring you this unfortunate news... I'm sure you would have liked to have been informed of it prior to any of these procedures.

Please feel free to ask more questions....
Bryanna
