I was terrified of the dentist up until a two years ago. I met a "real" person who just happens to be a dentist. I get the truth, compassion, and NO PAIN. It took most of my 61 years, to feel comfortable to the point I enjoy going to see her. I sure wish all of you, could find this kind of doctor, who elimanates fears that have grown over the years. Finances stopped me from going for a long time. She has never sent a bill to my home either. She allows me to pay when I can. Never quite met a professional like her. ginnie

Montos,
I am glad to hear that the endodontist did not discredit what I have been saying all along because I think some people here must think that I'm making this stuff up! But I am most glad that you had the tooth removed!! Very often it is the patient that directs the course of the consultation. It is important for the patient to speak up as you did and say.... hey, what's up with this, I am not happy! This demeanor often brings out the "honesty" in dentists. If the dentist was able to debride the socket thoroughly after he removed the tooth, your chances of any residual issues from the formocresol is minimal if any. Simply because YOU DIDN'T WAIT to have it removed! Hey... thanks for being so open to the information that I posted here Let us know how you're doing in a day or two... Bryanna Quote:

aslam25, I wonder how montos condition turned out to. You shouldn't compare yourself to someone with formecresol used unless you found out it was used on you.... How are you... Did you have the tooth extracted?

I have very similar issue right now. I had a root canal done 3.5 months ago on tooth #15, the toot hurt for about a week when I noticed I started to develop other syptoms. The gum around the toot that I had a root canal on started to burn. Over time the burning sensation spreded to my gums and my tongue, I went to see many oral surgents, dentists and no one can figure out what is causing the burning sensation. My gums look good, not swollen or red. Couple days ago I decided to extract the toot that the root canal been done on. Its been 6 days after the extraction and the burning sensation is still present but shifted towards the center of the mouth, the tongue and the gums in the center. The other problem is that the roots were overfilled with sealant during the root canal procedure and when I was extracting the tooth the oral surgent coulnt reach for that material to clean it out and said It is in the mixillary sinus and If I want to get it out of there I need a separate surgery for that. The materials that been used on RCT are Cavit(temporary filling) Gutta percha, and tubli seal (zinc, oxide, eugenol). I am going to see an allergist in 2 days to see if maybe I have an allergic reaction to tubli seal, since the material is still in sinus, my question is can I have all these symptoms due to an allergic reaction to any of the dental materrials, or there might be other underlying issue behind all of this. If any of you have any thoughts on this, I would greatly appreciate them all! Thanks

You may want to "dab" drop(s) of either Oil of Oregano or Tea Tree Oil to that area. I use both these for daily dental health and add both these drops to my Coconut Oil Toothpaste. I have NOT had an root canal in eons but don't recall any issues when I did long time ago.
Another good healing oil is Myrrh tincture. |

I still have the burning sensation all over my mouth. The roots on the toot that I had a RCT on were overfilled and when oral surgeon was extracting the tooth he couldnt get the material out of the sinus, since it needs to be a separate surgery. So, I will be having this surgery soon to remove the overfilled material. I hope and pray this is the cause of the burning sensation and pain and it will be gone after the surgery. |

Are you going to extract the other root canaled tooth on the other side? That tooth has an overfill of rc material also. It's basically a mirror image of the one you had removed.

I've done a root canal procedure on that tooth for over 10 years ago, it never bothered me. So I am not sure what I should do about that tooth. But, in your practice, have you ever encountered patients with burning sensation from overfilled material? Can this material cause the burning sensation? Is there a possibility for the burning sensation to go away after the removal of this material? I am going to oral surgeon in a few days for a consultation about the surgery of removing the left material.
