My front tooth cracked the other day and I don't have a dentist that takes my state assistance so I went to this place called dental dreams. They put a filling over the crack but my tooth is still hurting. I'm assuming it needs a root canal but I'm not sure. Does anyone know if my front tooth can be saved??

My front tooth cracked a few days ago it got really wiggly so I went to the dentist. I only have state assistance medical care so I don't have many options. Anyway all they did was put a filling over the crack. The tooth is really hurting now. I know that's not all you do to fix a cracked tooth. Is this tooth salavagable? I've already had 2 teeth pulled, I couldn't take it if a front one had to be pulled too. Any suggestions?

You could have what they call a flipper, which looks like a real tooth, but it isn't. Otherwise, you are talking a lot of money with either a root canal which then needs to be capped. Or an implant that is very expensive, and it needs to be capped too!! I have a few cracked teeth from a car accident other than having RSD. I am having a tooth pulled tomorrow. I am looking at costs too.. |

I only have badgercare and they won't pay for much other than a filling or root canal. My gums didn't hurt before they did the filling. I think they hit a nerve or a bone. The place I went to has a lot of "students' that work there and I've heard a lot of bad reviews but I didn't have a choice. Thanks for your feedback!

Hi EthansMom,
Did the dental office take an xray? How is your dental health in general? I assume you do not have regular dental care due to the limitations of your insurance? The filling is probably not adequate and was just a patch up. Without an xray or clinical examination, there is no way for anyone here to tell you if the nerve is involved with this tooth or not. The pain indicates a problem. It could be due to decay that was not removed... or from a ill fitting filling... or from the nerve... or perhaps the tooth is fractured. I understand that you do not want your front tooth removed. However, it may be in your best interest to do that if the nerve is involved and the tooth is infected. Root canal therapy will not cure an infection so that is something you need to keep in mind. Did your tooth break from a trauma or from decay? Sometimes state insurance will cover the extraction if it is due to an injury. I'm sorry we cannot be of any better help to you. I wish you all the best. Bryanna Quote:
