Root Canal odds ?
having a crown done on an upper molar on July 2nd , close to half of the molar is broken to the gum line , the filling is around 48 years old , it's the only filling ever done to it , my dentist did the hot and cold test and the hammer test and zero pain , he said no root canal , now I am reading that heat from working on the tooth can cause the pulp to act up , I have told my dentist to do everything in his power to prep the tooth very gingerly as to not cause any trauma to the tooth because a root canal is not an option in any way shape or form and if the tooth does get the crown and ends up needing a root canal I will not be a happy camper after suffering the needle and the work done plus the cost factor , actually the cost factor is not my main concern , it's the mental anguish of enduring all this to end up getting it pulled , so before I endure this suffering I would like to know what the odds are , are they in my favor of success by a good margin , if the odds of success are below 50% then I can't do this , I will just get it extracted , I will ask my Dentist on Tuesday what he can place the odds at and then I will make up my mind then ,, but some insight would be good too from anyone here
