Angry Wisdom extracted, sinus complication

Hello whole NeuroTalk,

I've been asking myself, should I register or not and I did at the end. Seems like a nice board with friendly attitude.

Anyway, here is the story. On day 10.07.'13. I extracted my upper right tooth (no. 16) which had cavity. It was open for a long time because I treid to repair it, but tooth probably had root canals infected and I had a bad smell from my mouth and I though the best thing would be just to pull it out. Because my tooth had 3 roots "attached" to maxillary sinus, it was pain to get it extracted. My dentist has been pulling it out for one and a half hour and the procedure was really complicated.

When I came back home, I had a horrible toothache for a few days, like the worst pain I ever felt, and trust me, I felt a lot of things in my life. The pain eventually went out a little bit in next few days, and I was going to my dentist regulary so he can check me up if everything was right.

Yesterday, 16.7. was a beautiful day without the pain. I couldn't (and still can't) close my jaw because it hurts then but it was ok, it's probably a procedure.

So, I took a bath today, but while doing shower, bit of water gone in my nose. I could feel it going through my sinus to my extracted hole and then in my mouth. It was aweful and the pain started right away so I just stopped with showering. I'm currently afraid is this pain temporary or I messed my extraction procedure. If it's the second one, I'm about to give up and put my self under silent death. I'm about to drink 400mg of Brufen just to make a pain go away. Also, my ear hurts and my head is aching a bit to.

I hope Bryanna can help me out as I see she has an enorome knowledge in dental section.

I also have a problem with tooth bellow extraction hole. When any pressure is put on it, I feel a horrible pain. but when I don't touch it, it doesn't hurt. Seems like a cavity to me but I'm not sure, can somebody enlight me?

I'm 18 years old, formally from Albania but I don't live there. I have a very strong teeths and always have a problem extracting them. They are also very sensitive to hot/cold.

I've been drinking Amoxillin and Chymoral from the days I extracted my teeth.
I didn't have a dry socket in these days, didn't spit or sneez and didn't smoke. I'm actually trying to stop smoking as I didn't smoke from the extraction day, might success .

Sorry for my english.
Cheers.

Hi Carl Banks,

Welcome to neurotalk!

The description of your experience with the shower water entering your nostril and coming out the extraction site..... not good. It would be wise to see your dentist (the one who removed that tooth) for him to take an xray and check for a sinus exposure and infection. Sometimes you build up a resistance to certain antibiotics when they are taken for a long period of time and need to be changed to something different. Also have him check the lower tooth that hurts if you press on it. Perhaps an overall examination would be a good idea

Please postpone the silent death thing until you at least know what the problem is!! Just kidding... please go have it checked out. Let us know how you're doing after you see the dentist.

Bryanna

Hi Bryanna,

You shouldn't tell me that now it's even worse
I'm going to visit him in two days on friday because that is the time I'm called to come for a check. I don't want to be the one who will be blamed for visiting him for nothing. I must say I'm still interested in what are complication because of water-through-sinus and what can happen? Indeed, I'm a bit afraid but I think I'll leave it up for tomorow, if pain goes away then I'll make a notice tomorow.

I'm must admin, if I messed up the extraction, I don't know I will be able to go to dentist after friday. My sister have her wedding in another country and I'm ready to go no mather what!
