Hi annikasamper,

I will repost your questions and answer in bold type.

<<<1. The dentist tested me this morning and anaesthetized my upper lateral tooth. I had been having pain in my lower tooth and that pain almost went away after he had numbed the upposite one (refferd pain?) Could this be a proof that the upper tooth is the guilty one?>>>

YES, COULD BE. REFERRED PAIN OCCURS MOST OF THE TIME WHEN A TOOTH IS INFLAMED. SMART DENTIST

<<<2. Do you think that when I have this two times root canaled crown tooth mooved with its roots that I will get rid of this pain? >>>

THE GOAL OF REMOVING THIS TOOTH IS TO REMOVE THE SOURCE OF THE INFECTION TO PREVENT THE BACTERIA FROM TRAVELING FURTHER. ANOTHER GOAL WOULD BE TO BE PAIN FREE! THE FACT THAT THIS TOOTH IS SO ILL HAVING HAD RC DONE TWICE.... MAY CAUSE YOU TO HAVE SOME LINGERING PAIN FOR A LITTLE WHILE. BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW THAT FOR CERTAIN. THE OBJECT HERE IS TO REMOVE THE SOURCE OF THE INFECTION.

<<3. Can I expect to have pain after the extraction for a long time, they are now making a temporary tooth that I have to have in my mouth for about 8 months all together.>>

NOT NECESSARILY. YOU MAY HAVE NO PAIN. YOU MAY HAVE DISCOMFORT OR TENDERNESS. IT IS IMPERATIVE TO BE AS HEALTHY AS YOU CAN BE WHEN GOING INTO THIS SURGERY.... JUST LIKE IT WOULD BE FOR ANY OTHER SURGERY. IT IS ALSO IMPERATIVE THAT YOU EAT NUTRITIOUSLY PRE AND POST OP THE EXTRACTION. FOLLOW THE POST OP INSTRUCTIONS TO THE "T" AND YOU SHOULD BE OKAY.

<<<The dentist wants do do this because he says that if he will do this apicoectomy surgery he says that he will damage the bone even more (like you said) I will probably, at any time in my life have to have it extracted, better now because of thiss strange dull pain in it and the opposite tooth. >>>

YES THIS DENTIST IS 100% CORRECT... I CONCUR

<<<One more thing, is it not strange that my pain in this upper tooth comes and goes all over the day and I hardly fell it during the night.
I have not got headaches, it is not a muscular problem, it is just this tooth isnīt it ? :-) >>>

NO IT IS NOT STRANGE. THE BACTERIA IS DRAINING IN TO THE BONE SO THAT IS WHAT IS GIVING YOU TIMES OF REPRIEVE FROM THE PAIN. AS THE PRESSURE FROM THE BACTERIA BUILDS UP, THE PAIN OCCURS. AS IT DRAINS, THE PAIN SUBSIDES. ALSO DURING THE DAY YOUR MOUTH IS NOT AT REST MEANING YOU ARE USING IT TO SPEAK, TO CHEW WHICH PUTS STRESS ON THIS TOOTH IRRITATING THE LIGAMENT THAT SURROUNDS THE TOOTH IN THE BONE. AT NIGHT YOUR MOUTH IS AT REST... PRESSURE IS OFF OF THE TOOTH.

I just wanted to hear from you before the etraction will take place :-) Thanks again so much.

Annikasamper,

Referred pain can be felt any place in the mouth, the face, the jaw, the head.... and it can originate from various areas that seem to have little significance to the real problem.

The lower tooth that is directly underneath this lateral may be irritated because the lateral may be pushed out of alignment due to the inflammation from the infection. Meaning those two teeth may be hitting against each the in an unnatural pattern. Once the inflamed tooth is removed the irritation to that lower tooth will be gone.

It is important to make mental note of this....
Anytime a tooth, even a healthy tooth, has been traumatized by another tooth hitting against it, there is a likelihood that the healthy tooth will become inflamed resulting in the nerve dying. So hopefully you are taking care of this problem soon enough before that happens.

Of course the lower tooth could be having it's own issues.... I wouldn't know that as I have not seen any xrays of it.

I hope this info is helpful.....

I am just scared to have this old sick tooth restracted.
This upper lateral tooth shows no infection in Xrays and the bone is ok but it has been damaged due to this older infection.
BTW I have had most of the other holes in my mouth repaired, they were not big.

Thank you again, I am hoping for some answers soon, my tooth will be extracted on thursd. og friday.

Dear Bryanna, Thanks again for taking time to answer :-)

I just have to add few more things. I am so scared and I AM TRAUMATISED.

My opposite teeth have not been having an occlusion, they never touch each other. I have been to a specialist to check on my bite and the bite is right and these two teeth never hit each other. Furthermore to what I have described, is it possible to have a referred toothache like this?
I know you do not know how my 26th (lower front tooth) conditon is but it started to get strange pain after the root canals were cleaned on the upper one which is nr. 7 by the way (I have been doing my homework).
My 26th tooth has been root canaled and filled because it started to get this strange pressue pain. This pain went away and after two weeks it got sensitive and it has been that way ever since although I have had the canals filled, only got worse after that.
This 26th tooth never had any infections, only a small leaking hole. My dentist just decided to rootcanal it and fill it because I was desperate but I sat up with a pain in it that is much worse than this strange pressure pain in it. This pressure pain went away after I stopped irritating the tooth.

I am so sorry what a mess my post is but after what I have described the lower tooth never had any problems, the problem just started when they tried to recanal the 7th one.....I will have that out of my mouth and hopefully I will get better. One more thing....sorry...but I have been reading about this horrible neuro thing, when the nerve gets damaged. Could that be the case for me and if so, will a patient have any change to get better?
This pain that I have is like an electric one, It mooves so quickly between these opposite teeth, what does that mean? ....The one I have in the 7th one is like aching a bit, like something is irritating it, very small pain but the one in the "perfect root canaled" 26th one gets much sharper and only started after the 7th got treated. But the 7th is a very bad bad bad one I think.

Thanks again, as you can see I want to get many advise and to be calmed down. So many many many thanks.
Greatings from a northern country and sorry my english is far from perfect
