Default Dental materials

Hi Bryanna,

I've recently been interviewing new Dentists since I feel a holistic Dentist would be a better approach.

One Dentist I had a consultation with said he wanted to pull 4 teeth that are root canaled, also telling me I had 4 cavities when I just had a check up two months ago.

I've read the book Toxic tooth and understand about root canals. With that being said, I already have 5 missing teeth and am not on board with pulling more teeth especially since bone grafting didn't previously go well.

My current Dentist wants to replace some really old crowns with porcelain/ceramic. I've recently read those are toxic. Do you know anything about the Clifford testing for dental materials and it's reliability? I also have Lyme disease and want to be extremely carefully with what goes into my mouth.

I've had so many dental problems and can't quite understand why. A year ago I was diagnosed with silent reflux which my Dentist thinks may have attributed to my dental problems. My husband doesn't eat as good of a diet as I do and occasionally drinks sodas and juice with absolutely no cavities. Can you explain to me why some people have dental problems and others don't? Does it have to do with PH?

Hi leesal,

If I recall correctly, you had a bad accident that caused tooth and bone loss and other dental problems which years later were exacerbated by poor dental work. The dentist recently (within the last year or so) did some major oral surgery in areas where you had suffered significant bone loss years ago and he was placing bone grafts in those areas so he could place dental implants. Is that correct? I believe it was your lower jaw where you had a lot of the grafting, implants and repeated infections??

I remember informing you that once the bone level has depreciated significantly over time, that bone grafting material will not integrate properly as there is not enough of your own bone to hold the graft. That was one reason why you had suffered so many infections in that area after the placement of the grafting. I think I remember that correctly.....

My question to you is this ... if you read the book Toxic Tooth and understand the toxicity of root canaled teeth but still want to hold on to your root canaled teeth... then why are you concerned about the toxicity of porcelain or ceramic crowns? Your teeth have roots that are anchored and attached to the interior of your jaw bone which makes them intricately connected to the arteries and blood vessels that are inside of the bone. Crowns go on top of the teeth above the gum line. So when comparing the toxicities between the two things.... which do you think could be more injurious to your health? I'm just curious if you have given that any thought.

Everyone has their own chemical, acidic/alkaline, make up in their saliva. There are many factors that cause someone to have tooth decay when others don't have it. Diet, oral hygiene, health of the immune system, genetics..... all play a role.
