Post Seen by different dentist today

The saga continues..

Wnt to a different dental practice, The dental assistant & I tried to get the digital Xray holder into my mouth...it become stuck, She was say "Please do not bite down!..We wedged it out...so she took two xrays the "old" way of tooth 2 &3. She also said a fistula would be above the tooth...this is very high up.

Xrays came back OK. No darkness, the roots looked good. The dentist examined me and asked if I had sinus problems, a recent cold, allergies...I do/did not. He said this does not seem like it is coming from my teeth. He said an abcess would have been more painful when he touched my tooth & gum. SO he put me on Clindamycin for a week and I return next Friday. He also said he wondered whether RC tools could be used as my opening is so limited. I said I do not want a RC, I would rather have it extracted.

He advised me to take a probiotic w/ the clinda. He was very nice as was the dental assistant. She though it was coming from my sinus as well.

I am very disappointed in my previous dentist.....after 10 yrs of going there and refrring other people...he did not even call me back when I called about the fistula.

Should I see an ENT? AS long as it is not my tooth or jaw, I am not as concerned....I do not know why.

Thanks! Any homeopathic thing to take? It only hurts if I press on it.

Stacy,

I would not rule out the tooth just yet.

It may be a good idea to see an ENT for his opinion.

Any chance you could post the xray that they took today?

Thanks Bryanna-

I am not ruling out the tooth...just wishful thinking.

The Xray was not digital. I do not have a copy.

What could this "lump of pressure" be??

I have my pan from June 2013...would that tell you if root of #3 was close to my sinus?

I will have to search out an ENT.

Thanks for your guidance!

Stacy,

You can post the pan... I will take a look at it.

The lump of pressure definitely indicates something is brewing. Can you take a picture of it and post it here? Or pm it to me?

Thanks Bryanna-

I had someone take a bunch of pictures. I cannot see it in any of the pics. The flap of tissue w/ connects my maxilla to the mucosa in my inner cheek is in the way. I can feel it w/ my tongue and fingers. Even when I press on it from the outside, on my face right under the cheek bone, it causes pain.

Can you refer me to web pages w/ homeopathic info?

I started the clinda.

Thanks again.

Stacy

Stacy,

Could it be a clogged salivary duct? Or a stone in the parotid gland? Did the dentist rule those things out?

Perhaps this website will offer you some helpful information about homeopathy. I have no affiliation with the dentist who owns that site.

Thumbs down

Hi-

I had a follow up appt. finished the clinda...the new dentist referred me to an ENDODONTIST. I said "I do not want a root canal I would rather have it pulled".

Called endo office for price of consult...I advised the receptionist I did not want a root canal & advised her of referral...she said "If you do not want a root canal why come here for a consult?". me-"That is what I am thinking..what could endo do if i know I want the tooth pulled vs RC?". She said they can refer me to an oral surgeon. WHy waste the money??

Why are dentists RC "pushers"?? The dentist I saw today said last week he doubted Rc tools would even fit in my mouth (do not know if this is true or not). I am just so sick of this.

I am imagining the world's worst tooth extraction.

Thanks for listening to me vent!

Stacy,

Did the dentist rule out a blocked salivary duct??

Did he take a new xray? Is he telling you the tooth is infected? Is he diagnosing the lump as a fistula?

There is no point in seeing the ENT if you do not want a root canal as that is all that they do. Due to your limited opening, the endo files and packer may not fit in your mouth. They are long instruments and require the patient to be fully opened.

Dentists push root canals because they are the most lucrative dental procedure and they can sell a patient on it almost every time because they know that many patients do not want to hear they need their tooth extracted.... so they don't even bother to explain the systemic risks with root canaled teeth. At the same time there are many dentists who are unaware of the systemic risks because they feel anything systemic is "medical" related and not dental. Stupid reasoning .... I know. But that's the way it is.

Have you consulted an oral surgeon? An OS could diagnose that lump as to whether it is tooth related or not.
