Hello everyone, glad to find somewhere to talk to ppl with similar experiences. Hope you all are well!
My history 38 f Non smoker Chronic Kidney Disease stage 2 I had all 4 extracted at once. The top 2 were fully in, the bottom right was just exposed at the crown and on an angle toward the next molar, the bottom left was not in at all and impacted slightly. Surgery was quick (to me) I was under full sedation. I am not able to take the heavy painkillers so I just took 2 OTC Motrin e 6hrs. Pain was horrible, I was very swollen. Especially on the left side. I got through it but have some residual issues I may need to give him a call and let him know but I wanted to see if anyone else experienced this. The bottom left side is still very sore. Just to touch the outside of my cheek is painful but it's only when u press on it a bit. I still cannot open my jaw far enough to bite a sandwich, and there is a slice in my cheek/gum that is pretty deep and I see a black dot inside it. My jaw also pops when I yawn or sneeze it hurts. It's not a constant pain, I'm not even taking anything for pain anymore as it only happens when I move it or touch it. Should I still be having these issues this long after surgery? |

Hi Brittanya,
You did not mention when you had the teeth removed. It is best to stay on a soft food diet for the first couple of weeks or more depending on the individual case. Your jaw had to be manipulated during the surgery and the ligaments were stretched. They will heal in time but it's important to avoid opening your mouth wide to accommodate a sandwhich or yawn, etc. Once the ligaments relax your jaw will open normally on it's own without any force from you. Regarding the sore area on the bottom..... if the extractions were done more than 5-7 days ago then it would be wise to have a visit with the oral surgeon to rule out any problems. Bryanna Quote:
