Hi Bon Don,
Periodontal disease is a bacterial infection that causes varying degrees of oral inflammation all of which contribute to the loss of teeth and jaw bone. If left untreated, the bacteria and inflammation become more widespread eventually affecting your overall systemic health. This means that you can experience infection and inflammation in other areas of the body that are directly or indirectly correlated with this disease. Active periodontal disease weakens the immune system pre disposing a person to ill health. Someone who is already dealing with other health issues could experience worsening of their symptoms especially if they are inflammation related. Body pain and nerve pain in the feet can be attributable to many things but one of them is diabetes which is directly affected by any chronic inflammation or infection in the body. People who get their periodontal disease under control and keep it under control generally notice a big improvement in their other health problems. Bryanna |
