Default Implant problems - "Completely normal and it WILL heal in xx days" Hmmmmm

Interesting forum!

Day one - root canal and post on #5 bottom jaw
Day two - two implants in positions #6 &7 bottom jaw
Day three - crowns on #4 & #5

Taking antibiotic, anti inflamatory and analgesics as prescribed.

Implant day + 5 -- couple of sutures obviously come undone and incision is gaping. No sign of suture pulling through, just undone and gradually loosening

Contacted dentist and he claimed that this was entirely normal and it would heal completely within 14 days.
(we are full-time motorhomers and had been hanging around close by for a few days just in case)
I knew it wasn't normal (having done hundreds of sutures on various parts of the human anatomy many years ago) but accepted his assurances and headed off slowly (since I was far from convinced)

Implant day + 10

Both implant screws easily visible

so I contacted him again, again emailing the most recent photo and received exactly the same story with the obvious variation that it is guaranteed to heal completely by three weeks.

Trouble is we are now a fair way away and loath to drive all the way back for no good reason.

Still taking antibiotics and occasional analgesics if required but now implant day + 17 and the hole in my gum is taking its own sweet time to heal.

Still rinsing with mouth wash and/or warm salty water and never biting on the gum or fiddling with either finger or tongue.

Problem is I keep promising to go back and get it sorted out in person, but each day we drive just a little further away and it gets to the point where if I drive for two days to get there, it might actually be fully healed by the time I get there and I will have wasted 4 days and a lot of money for nothing. But then again ...

I know FULL WELL that it is not normal for sutures to let go so easily, but I would be interested in any insights anyone can offer.

Thanks

Tony Lee
