Question Problems 5 months after wisdom teeth removal

Hello,

I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed in December 2013.
They were impacted but one was at the wrong angle. The dentist said that he hasn't seen anything like it for 7 years!
My cheeks were as big as cricket balls and the dentist had me on two lots of antibiotics. One for gum/mouth infection and the other for bone infection.
I got dry socket on both the bottom areas which has now healed over.

The side with the most trouble started playing up and I had some spare antibiotic (I know, tsk tsk but I wasn't risking it).
I went to the dentist two days later for X-rays and nothing showed up.

Everyone looked at me strangely and they said it could be referred symptoms from reflux...

It's been two weeks and the tingle, hotness in the cheek is all there and now a pus pocket has appeared.

I've been flossing and mouth washing like crazy! But maybe I'm too late...

Anyone experienced this? Ideas on what it could be?
I can't keep wasting money on X-rays and dentists to shrug their shoulders at me.

Hi Backsoon,

Thanks for posting the picture.

You need to get back to the oral surgeon. It is possible that you have a localized infection but it could also be deeper into the bone. Pockets of pus only form from bacteria so you need to have it checked out further.

Also the only thing you should be rinsing with is warm salt water. Any mouthwash that contains alcohol, preservatives, dye, chemcials... is not going to help this problem and will only serve to make it more irritated.

I'm sorry to send you back to the dentist... but this needs to be evaluated further. I recommend an oral surgeon.... not a general dentist.
