Default what is the white stuff where my tooth was... and bone grafting

11 days ago I had tooth #13 extracted due to a fractured root from a root canal. Had the bone grafting done as well.

My tooth is fine, pain is all gone, but I have the surface where my tooth used to be is now white. Is this an infection?

I don't have any pain or any discomfort, but what is the white... looks like an infection hoping it's not.

I have a follow up with my dentist on Monday.

Thanks!

Hi snoopdog,

The white stuff could be signs of an infection, plaque or tissue that is sloughing off. It could also be a portion of the bone graft. It's a good sign that the area feels good and there is no discomfort.

It's best to keep rinsing with warm salt water 3 times a day to help keep the bacteria and debris to a minimum. Do not use mouthwash that has any chemicals, dyes or alcohol in it as this will only irritate the oral tissue.

Make sure to see your oral surgeon on monday.

If you can keep us posted...
