frostyjohn, I am so sorry for what you have been going through. I have had a similar experience in that I have several odd symptoms that seem to originate in the vicinity of a dental implant that may have penetrated my maxillary sinus years ago. I have been searching for answers for a very long time.

Have you heard of Dental DNA? I don't think I am allowed to print their website here, but you can do a google search. This lab can test your saliva to determine what the culprit might be. I have an appointment with an oral surgeon next week that I am going to mention this lab to, if he is unable to find the source of my symptoms. I have been trying to get my dental implant removed, but so far the 4 oral surgeons I have seen are not willing to take it out because they all think it looks fine.

I have burning, tingling and intermittent dental/jaw bone pain. It feels and sounds like there is sizzling going on in there and I often feel as though a fluid or some type of pus is traveling down into my mouth from the vicinity of my dental implant or possibly the extraction sight of a tooth next to it. The sinus cat scan shows a cyst directly above the implant on the floor of my sinus. I have a DX of paranasal inflammatory disease with several polyps and the one large cyst showing up.

I also have a DX of Lyme disease and my Lyme specialist recently prescribed for me an atomizer treatment with mupirocin and amphotericin B. It has been creating all kinds of havoc in there. I am amazed at all the stuff coming out of my nose throughout the day. This treatment was developed by Dr. Joseph Brewer, who is an infectious disease doctor in Kansas City. He published a study on this. http://www.mdpi.com/2072-6651/5/4/605 Apparently the treatment has helped many previously exposed to mold and unable to recover from chronic illness.

I'm not saying this is your problem, or even mine, but when you have a chronic condition like this, it is important to keep on searching for answers. I was always very healthy before this all happened. I do have some previous exposure to black mold, so am wondering if there is a connection.

I hope Dental DNA can help you to figure out what is going on. If clindamycin helped you, I agree with Bryanna that is a huge clue that you have an infection of some type brewing in there. Good luck to you and please keep us posted. I will do the same.

My endoscopic sinus surgery is less than three weeks away. Hopefully it ends with positive results!

Lots of fingers and toes being crossed here for a positive outcome!

Just a suggestion... you may be a little under the weather after the procedure for a few days. So it's best to have a diet menu planned and prepared a couple of days before the procedure so that you will have food readily available during the post op days rather than have to think about what to eat.

Well I had the surgery last Friday, which makes to today 5 days post-op. The overall procedure was way better that I thought it would be. I am healing fine with no complications.

The pus stopped coming out the day the of the surgery. My surgeon said he took out three polyps and cleaned my sinuses of a lot of mucus. He said I had a lot of mucus build up in my sinus. He also put some mucus for a culture. The doctor said he did not notice anything like a fistula in my sinus.

We got the results back from the culture yesterday. The doctor said it grew bacteria and he gave me an antibiotic specifically for that bacteria. I am going to start to take those once my current antibiotics finish (the ones give to me fore my post op recovery).

So far I've only had minor sinus pressure in my forehead. No leaking/throbbing gum, no maxillary sinus pressure. Hopefully it stays that way when the antibiotics stop.

That is fantastic, frostyjohn! Hoping that you have discovered that it was some type of bacterial infection in there all along that will now resolve because you are getting the right treatment. Please keep us posted of how you are feeling in the next few weeks. Good luck!

I am so glad that surgery is over and it all went well!

Regarding the antibiotics.... please make sure with the surgeon about when you are to start the new antibiotics. Please don't assume that you have to finish the original rx first.
