Hi Ginnie,
Chlorella is a great supplement but it needs to be taken with some caution and never taken more than the recommended dosage on the product label. Especially in people who have a multitude of health problems because chlorella can cause some unpleasant reactions with the digestive tract and sickly people have unhealthy or compromised digestive systems to begin with making them more susceptible to an adverse reaction. We cannot really tell you what you should be supplementing with because you have several health concerns and we are not physicians here. I know you want to take some control of your health and avoid medications and such. But you really need a physician to work out a plan for you. Do you currently take vitamin supplements? If so, which ones? Bryanna Quote:

Hi Bryanna: absolutely, someone with diagnosed iron overload should avoid all sources of iron, no matter how small.
It's disturbing how many people have thyroid problems. There are endocrinologists who really know their stuff and will tease out potential causes, but a regular family doctor doesn't. So if you have thyroid issues, go to an endocrinologist. Bryanna is right, Ginnie, about starting slow on Chlorella. It will give you gastrointestinal upset, gas and diarrhea! Take 1/4 of the recommended dose, usually it comes in little tablets that you take a palmful of daily. After a month of tolerating that, then go to 1/2 the amount, and increase over several months. There's no hurry to load up on it as it's not going to change your health overnight. And there may be other things that will help you, like vitamins you may be deficient in, so checking with a doctor who knows alternative medicine/detox protocols would be an excellent idea. There are some who can do consults via phone if there isn't one close to you. Back to my extraction, I did not know that they should do bone grafts at the time of extraction! Good to know. We'll see if he thinks I could do an implant there and, if so, plan on a graft at the same time. I'll report tomorrow! Stacy |

Hello Bryanna and Ginnie:
The oral surgeon at first said he would wait to do anything because I said I wasn't in pain. Well, I'm not in pain today, but my sinus does bother me at times, so when I said that, he agreed it should be removed. He thinks it possible to do an implant there. He will do a graft at the time of extraction, and I asked about cleaning out the infected bone, and he said he does that and prepares it for the graft. It's $1100 for all that, which I thought was pretty reasonable. It's what I expected with anesthesia and the graft. Now I just have to schedule it, and I'm, of course, NERVOUS! Ginnie, I know yours went well, and that is reassuring. I could do it as soon as this Friday and then have the weekend to do the major recuperation. Do it now? Wait 2 weeks or wait a month?? Stacy |

stacy,
Do it now... don't put it off. It is best to have it removed before the bacteria spread any further because once it spreads the surgery is more complicated and the graft cannot be placed in bone that is not healthy. In that case a second surgery is required to place the graft. If you feel confident with this surgeon..... don't procrastinate. Bryanna Quote:

Well I am glad you told me about the Chlorella. My investigaion with that will stop. I do have a compromised digestive track. I also have barretts esophagus as a result. I take a double proton pump inhibitor. I get an endoscopy every 6-months to a year. My immune system is shot. I was just trying to figure out some way to help myself and not get more poisening with the murcury still in my mouth. Lousy deal but there isn't much I can do about that.
I take no supplements, but eat a very good diet. Full of the right kind of food. Most of those supplements arn't in the budget of someone on medicare/medicaid. My autoimmune problems pretty well zapped my finances and my future savings. I could not get health insurance during my life, due to those conditions. I am not in good medical shape and sure want to keep my remaining teeth, and what health I can. Thanks for your continued good help on this site. There is such a need for truth regarding dental issues. Nope I won't have another root cannal eithor. I go back the 22nd. I will find out the reason I need this crown with the information you gave me. If he says I also have to have a RC also, I will have it pulled. I don't want to put a $800 crown on a tooth that is no good, and will only cause future problems. I only have one that has a RC and crown, and I do have trouble with it. Thanks again for all the information you give us to make a better choice. ginnie |

I am healing just fine. I will probably put in a partial at some point. I did have bone damage, so I can't have an implant as is my understanding. You will do just fine when you have that tooth removed. You are also well educated about the whole process, that is best of all. Thanks to this dear Lady Bryanna we have a good way to understand all this stuff. Take care Stacy, and let me know how you do. Have a blessed and peaceful holiday. ginnie

The x-ray today showed the same as always--that my sinus dips down below the roots. But nothing else looked bad, and the surgeon said as much. So I can hope that when he cuts it all open that it's not a huge, miserable infection, but just a minor ordeal. So sad. Stacy |

I do eat yogurt, all kinds including the greek kind and probiotic kind. Yep It is a good thing. When all my health issues started I dropped 65 pounds and learned to eat the right way. I don't know if there is anything more I can do to help myself stay healthier, but I sure am trying. should have done better by myself years ago. thanks for caring ginnie

Ginnnie,
I agree with Stacy... a probiotic is a great idea! I suggest that everyone take probiotics irrelevant of their health status because it simply replenishes the good bacteria that is destroyed from food, stress, medications.... etc. Yogurt is generally a good source of probiotics but only if it is home made because the commercial stuff has been processed to the max. Probiotics cannot tolerate changes or fluctuations in temperature because the bacteria will die. Most refrigerated processed foods go through various temperature changes to the point where by the time it gets on the grocery shelf, the nutritional value is very little. If you do buy yogurt, it is best to buy the plain kind and add your own fruit because the ones with the fruit are very high in sugar. Adding your own fresh fruit will be lower in sugar. You can buy a drink called Kefir at most health food stores which contains high amounts of probiotics. It has a short shelf life meaning it is processed quickly and does not last long. Just make sure it does not contain any sugar. There are lots of probiotics on the market. I prefer the one called Culturelle because it is processed under strict conditions and each capsule is immediately enclosed in an individual wrapper. So it is not in contact with light or too much change in temperature. I found the best price for supplements to be at www.vitacost.com. Another one that I like is by Enzymatic therapy called Pearls. Again these are individually wrapped. Hope this helps a bit. So glad to have you here with us Ginnie!! Bryanna Quote:
