Hi Karen,

Taking into consideration the number of root canals you've endured in a short period of time only to end up with a bigger problem than you started out with, I think what may be happening is that you are seeing conventional dentists who often do not look beyond the root canal. In other words, they are basically taught to just check if the procedure was done well or not with no interest beyond the textbook. That would be like a physician telling you the pain in your chest is normal and that you have no heart trouble because he can still hear your heart beating.

I am providing you with a link that explains the difference between a 2D xray and a CT scan. You only have to read the second paragraph to see why the 2D is inferior to the Ct scan and that is perhaps another reason why the pathology is not being picked up.

Did you get my message? I had some suggestions for you on there.

Also, I may have already offered you this ... sorry if I'm repeating myself. But take a peek at this book written by Dr George Meinig a former endodontist. The link allows you to open the book and read some it. Just read through the preface and a few more pages. It will explain things a bit more clearly to you.

Also, have you ever heard of Dr Joseph Mercola? He is an Integrative Physician and educates the public on many health topics as well as dental issues in particular root canals. He is in Illinois and perhaps a phone call or email to him could be helpful in finding a dentist who can really help you.

The night guard that was suggested to you may help relax your jaw muscle, but it is really not touching the dental problem. I wish I could offer you more. Please take a look at that book and google Dr Mercola and root canals. I really think that information could be helpful to you.

Default Dr. Mercola

Hi Bryanna,

I will call Dr. Mercola next week. We are on vacation next week and have had it planned for over three months. When we get back from vacation I am for sure going to get this issue taken care of. I will probably have to file a short term disability claim from work because it is so hard to schedule appointments for after work and although I have been employed at the same business for 28 years they are not forgiving of absentness or being sick. I also suffer from panic attacks so I do not like to drive very far or in unfamiliar areas.

Thank you for sending me all the links. I will check the book out on Amazon. I just signed up for Amazon Prime a few days ago and I love shopping on Amazon.

I did read about the "Cone" dental CT..........that is what I need next. My gums are very sensitive to cold but not so much to hot and it seems like it is in the area of tooth #18 where there used to be a crown. At first I thought maybe it was another tooth going bad (#21) but now it feels more like the gums further back between 18 and 19.

I still can't send you a PM or a message......this site is not very user friendly!! Maybe it's me but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to get around on here!!

Thank you so much for trying to help me. I really appreciate it as I see lots of others do too!!

Hope all is well for you.

Karen

Hi Karen,

I understand you have some personal limitations which need to be taken into consideration. Yes, please give his office a call and hopefully they will be willing to offer you some guidance with a new dentist.

I hope your vacation goes well and your dental issues are uneventful.

Yes, I love Amazon too! If you can, buy that book because you are going to need as much information as you can about the risks of root canals, etc. as make your way through this dental journey. Keep in mind that knowledge is empowering and it will be the one thing that you are going to rely on to guide your decisions.

I don't know why the PM is not working for us. I have lots of others I am able to do that with.... :/ Go figure!

Enjoy your vacation!
