Default How can there be such a difference of opinion with an X-Ray?

I had posted under another thread also. I had a dental implant done about 6 months ago. I had no complications until the crown was placed. I had some mild discomfort, but it is now turning into severe pain. My dentist (who placed the crown) said everything looks fine with the implant. I recently got a second opinion and the dentist immediately saw a problem and sent me to a specialist who also saw a problem (dark shadowing at the bottom of the implant). I am wondering how it is possible for two different dentists to have such a different opinion about the implant. How can one say everything looks fine and the other say there is a problem? Was he truly trying to cover up up any issues?
