Default Post Wisdom Tooth Extraction!

Hello everyone, first time posting, but I've spent quite some time looking over other people's experiences regarding post-wisdom tooth extraction complications and such.

I've had 4 of them removed (bottom 2 were impacted), under general anesthesia, but I got them done two at a time because in Korea, I guess they don't take out 4 all at once. It was dreadful the first time around because I knew I would have to repeat the whole process... Anyways, I finished getting my last 2 wisdom teeth (left side top and bottom) last Wednesday, but it's been healing REALLY REALLY slowly compared to the time when I took it out 3 weeks ago. 3 weeks ago, I was in pain and couldn't eat for the first 3-4 days, but after that, I was back to resuming normal life, and I could chew and stuff.

However, things are a bit more complicated this time around. Two things that are really bothering me are:

a) my top 2nd molar seems to have moved, or been displaced, in the sense that it is tilted forward, meaning the bottom of the tooth comes out compared to the other teeth, so it breaks the "straightness" of my teeth. I feel like that's the only crooked tooth. Now, I honestly don't know if this tooth was in the same place as it was before the surgery and I just didn't notice it until now, but I want to ask if it's possible for the 2nd molar to have shifted or something during the extraction of the 3rd molar. This 3rd molar (on top) was not impacted, but it was stuck quite up there and was angled towards the 2nd molar. I ask this because whenever I bite down, it is very sensitive and I feel some pain. Now, the pain has ever so slightly subsided as the days have progressed, but I am worried because it has been almost a week and I can't chew yet. I'm always biting down first on the left side (the side where I got the surgery), so my other molars on the opposite side don't touch. If they do, my left side hurts like crazy and I feel like my tooth will move or break off!

b) I know that sometimes bone (? or something else) can come out through the gums post-surgery, but I've heard that they usually come out through the site where the tooth was pulled. On the bottom left side where my impacted wisdom tooth was pulled, there is a round, white and pinkish, thing coming out in between my 1st and 2nd molar. It hurts when I touch it, but I have no idea what this is. Does anyone have a clue? Was there too much pressure created during the extraction that there was no room for this thing to pop up? I am so confused!

Any help, advise, or information will be much much appreciated. Thank you!

Hi seoulstyla,

Welcome!!

It is not uncommon for extraction sites to heal differently. So what you experience in one area may be different in another.

The upper left second molar that feels like it has moved out of it's original place. Sometimes teeth do shift a bit after the adjacent tooth is removed especially if the extracted tooth was in close proximity to it. Think of it as both teeth intimately sharing the same wall of bone and now one side of the wall has no more support. The bone on that side will thicken over time. The tooth could also have been misplaced but you didn't realize it because the other tooth was blocking that sensation. Now that the molar stands alone you are more aware of it.

Regarding the area between the 1st and 2nd molar... this needs to be evaluated by the oral surgeon. It would be most unusual for you to have a piece of splintering bone emerging from that area of your jaw unless the jaw was fractured during the extraction. It's best to have that looked at by the surgeon.

I hope this information was helpful. Please check back and let us know how you're doing.
