Hi Bryanna,

As I have already written in my previous posts,I have got my root canaled teeth extracted. I wish to replace them. I fear getting implants as I emailed some biological dentists and they said implants carry risks as they lock cranial sutures. I do not know what it means but it has frightened me.Also they said it causes insomnia and some galvanisation problems. I have developed a PHOBIA for implants even before getting a single one done for me.

Bryanna, Tell me what are safe options to replace extracted teeth ?
I heard partial removable dentures are safest. I want to know which dental specialist is best suited to make dentures. Should I visit a orthodontist,periodontist, endodontist or whom ???

Hi amit,

There are risks with every dental procedure. To claim that dental implants will always cause problems in every person is not a factual statement. Any foreign or artificial object that is placed anywhere in the body is going to be an initial irritant to the immune system. Whether or not it stays as an irritant and contributes to an unfavorable systemic reaction depends on the bio chemistry of that patient to the material of the object.... depends on the health of that person... depends on the health of the area that the object was placed in... and depends on how well and how sterile the surgeon performed the placement of the object.

The only options to replace an extracted tooth/teeth are dental implants, removable partial denture or a multi unit fixed bridge. The upper partial denture fits over part of the palate and clips onto certain teeth for retention. The lower partial denture sits behind the front teeth and clips onto certain teeth for retention. The fixed bridge requires a least 2 anchor teeth on both sides of the missing tooth to be ground down and crowned so a fake crown can be soldered to the adjacent crowns which are cemented onto those ground down teeth.

Removable partial dentures are the least invasive. However, they can be difficult to eat with as food tends to get trapped underneath them. Some people have no problems with them... others have problems.

Any general dentist can make partial dentures, implant crowns (the placement of the implant should be by a oral surgeon or periodontist), or make bridgework. A specialist in major restorations, which is what these are considered, would be a prosthodontist.

I have had removable partial, fixed bridge, and now FULL dentures.

I vote that you see a prosthodontist, also mentioned by Bryanna.

A good general dentist is capable of providing both removal and fixed bridges that may work well and may even be a few dollars cheaper than a prothodontist but knowing what I know now, I would see a GOOD prosthodontist.

I had NO problem with my removable or fixed bridges made by a very good general dentist. I had nothing BUT problems with my FULL dentures made by a different general dentist. It wasn't until AFTER those problems when I find out there was such a thing as a prosthodontist and wish I had known about that specialty prior to removal of all my teeth.
