Default White Matter Change

hi,

I am 7 months undiagnosed with white matter change on my brain. I have been tested for just about everything and they cant seem to track down what is causing it. I have a few more tests over the next few months. My question is, I had root canal surgery about 3 years ago. Which has never caused me pain, but it has also never felt quite right, and is often tender. I have had a slight infection showing in my bloods for approx 3 years and it is gradually getting worse. I have had my tooth xrayed at a dentist and they tell me it looks fine. Is it possible to miss an infection under a root canal via xray? If I do have an infection in my root canal, could that cause white matter change on the brain?

Thankyou for your help in advance
Kelly

Hi Kelly,

Before you go any further, I would recommend that you read the book entitled The Toxic Tooth, How a root canal could be making you sick, by Dr Robert Kulacz (dentist) and Dr Tom Levy (cardiologist). This book is written for the lay person and gives excellent fact based detailed explanations on how the proliferation of toxins and bacteria from root canaled teeth can affect your brain and other areas of the body. The information it provides could be a huge eye opener for you and help you move forward in a more positive direction.

It's important to know that conventional dentistry and medicine rarely acknowledges the all important oral and systemic connection. They are educated on and aware that the bacteria that resides in the mouth and teeth travels throughout the blood and body. But for the most part they treat people based on symptoms and if the symptoms are vague or non existent, then they do not investigate that possible connection any further.

All root canaled teeth are infected to some degree irrelevant of whether they are symptomatic or not. The rc procedure or a surgical apicoectomy is done to retain an unhealthy tooth for an uncertain amount of time. There is no procedure, medicament, instrument or treatment that can sterilize or cure an infected tooth.

Commonly, an rc tooth will find a way to drain the infectious bacteria. When that happens the tooth itself may never abscess leaving a conventional dentist to think the tooth is fine. Especially since the xrays are not always conclusive in showing infection in teeth unless there is a blatant abscess. However, that pathway of drainage is via the blood and it can and does easily travel to any area of the body.

A note about blood tests..... the infection and inflammation markers in our blood have to be elevated significantly in order to show up on our basic serum panels. So a slightly elevated marker usually means there's more to the story than it appears and/or that the offender has been present for quite some time but not elevated enough to be picked up on the test.

Are you familiar at all with the terms Functional Medicine or Biological Dentistry? These are practitioners who are educated the same way as conventional practitioners but who have gone on to become further educated in more than just drugs and surgery. They look for the root cause of the problems and treat the body from a entirety perspective.

Two sites to help inform you about FM and BD...

Thankyou so much for your reply. It gives me much more confidence to speak up and not feel like I am a crazy woman! So you would suggest getting the tooth retracted? Would I have to go to a Holistic Dentist for that? Or just the local dentist? Thankyou so much again. Your information is much appreciated.

Kelly,

You are not crazy at all!! Your health situation is one that is often un-diagnosed or misdiagnosed because the root cause of the problem is often never sought.

I am suggesting that you read that book asap and empower yourself with knowledge so that you can move forward with a focus on getting well.

There is no doubt that the rc tooth is infected and has become or will become a detriment to your health, especially given the health problems that you are having. Extracting the tooth is just one step of the surgical procedure that would need to be done. Thorough debridement of the surgical socket removing all diseased tissue and bone is imperative and possibly entry into the sinus may be necessary. There has to be a treatment plan decided upon prior to the removal of this tooth. Given your health history, it is imperative to seek either a Biological dentist who routinely performs extractions or an oral surgeon who has a dual degree. Meaning he is a DDS or DMD AND an MD. Conventional practicing general dentists and even some oral surgeons would not ideally be the one to do this surgery.

Kelly, if you are comfortable, send me a personal message with an idea of where you are located or willing to go to and I will see if I can help you find someone.

I'm not locating that book in many libraries.

Perhaps post online links/info for those that don't want to buy a book.

Jo*mar,

Because the online links regarding this topic are not free or easily accessible to the public, it is best if they buy the book which was written specifically to inform the public of the information that is not readily available to them.

The book "The Toxic Tooth" by Dr Kulacz and Dr Levy can be purchased online through amazon.

Kelly,

Yes, I am in America.

Here's a link from the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology website listing some dentists in Australia.

https://iaomt.org/search/region/australia/

This link may also be helpful. It is about mercury free dentistry which Biological dentists are strong proponents of providing less toxic dentistry. You may be able to contact this organization for a referral to a like minded oral surgeon or a biological dentist who performs oral surgery.

http://www.mercuryfreedentistry.com.au/

It's important that whoever you see is well educated and experienced in extracting root canaled teeth and is willing to discuss your other physical findings in detail with you and your doctors.

You can purchase the book from Amazon. Please take a look there and scroll down to read the reviews of the book. Some are from dentists and doctors.

Our sticky thread has some related information on the topic-
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/thread13066.html

No need to buy a $27.00 book unless you really want to.

Jo*mar,

The links on the sticky thread are also useful. Thanks for bringing those to the forefront. However, this book is purposely written in a format that empowers the reader with past, current and up to date information that their dentists cannot dispute. A small investment of $27 can end up being a life saver for many people.

FYI.... I have no financial ties to the sales of this or any other book. My intention as always is for people to become better informed.
