I'll have tooth #14 extraction in a few days, with a sedation, because it's a previously root canaled tooth with a broken root, which is either very close to or in the sinus and it has a crown. I was reading the older posts over again to get ready for this dental procedure. I never had a sedation for a tooth extraction before so I'm nervous about that too. Any advice ?
Thank you ! |

Hi nyuszisie,
What type of sedation are you having? Oral, pill form prior to the appointment or IV sedation? Bryanna Quote:

I'll have IV sedation. I know about not eating and drinking for at least 6 hours before the surgery.

Nyuszisue,
I assume you want to take something prior to the sedation to calm your nerves? You should not take any food or drugs by mouth at least 6 hours prior to the appointment. Other than daily medication and you should have spoken to the surgeon about doing that if needed. To help reduce the anxiety you can take a homeopathic remedy called Ignatia Amara 30X or C. Hylands brand recommends 4 tablets under the tongue, 4 times in one day. You can do that day prior to the surgery and then take 4 tablets an hour prior to the surgery. This homeopathy will not interfere with anything else you are taking or the sedation medication but it is not wise to take more than the manufactures recommendations. For pain, you can take homeopathic Arnica Montana 30X or C or even higher like 200 X or C immediately after the surgery and continue as directed on the bottle. This homeopathic can be used in place of pain meds or it can be taken an hour before or after pain meds. Again, it is not wise or necessary to take more than recommended. Did I answer your question? I have these headaches regularly that's why I was asking about Excedrin ( only that helps me with my headaches ). For calming the nerves , that is a nice suggestion. And I know about Arnica, I was taking it with my last extraction. Can I take it even if I get antibiotics ? ( Clindamycin probably )
Thanks ! |
