Default Choosing a Restoration Method, affordable and lasting

Hi Bryanna,

When I last checked in with you I was getting ready to treat a bad case of SIBO and IBS, and had been told that I needed to have all my molars extracted due to failing root canals and leaky crowns, much decay and rampant oral bacteria.
I didnt want to start pulling teeth and adding bacteria to my gut and circulatory system before first starting to heal my gut lining. I went on an elemental diet and took a lot of glutamine, and things started to get better with my IBS. When I finished the xifaxan and Neomycin for the SIBO, I got a prettu bad oral thrush and overgrowth of Candida, and should have probabalu taken anti fungals...I just didnt want to overburden my kidneys and liver and deal with such a huge die-off.
Now I am in a sort of limbo, went to see a good dentist this week, he said that I should come up with a complete plan, because to start pulling molars and doing grafts and starting reconstriction, when there is decay everywhere he looks, makes no sense. He said that I have to determine why there is so much decay. Some of it is due to dry mouth, but the rest is a bit of a question mark. My diet isnt great, but its not terrible, and Im not a carb or sweet freak, (well only occasionally).

Im wondering if dentures are in my future. Not the most comfortable or convenient, but at least its an end to internal bacteria, isnt it? The cost of implants for an entire upper and partial lower is crazy. How does one decide on which system of mouth restoration to choose? THe high priced dentists want to put in an implant for every tooth, and there are these guys that advertize 4 posts and some kind of prosthesis. All very confusing. I will have 2 in college in another year, and there is no budget left for high priced restorations for an over the hill mouth!

Any thoughts?
THank you,
J

Not sure this will be of help; but I, since a very young child, have dealt with tooth decay. Thru the years; a few at a time; eventually now every tooth in my mouth is crowned; or in a few areas where a tooth had to be removed, needed a permanent bridge with crowns. I continue to have decay and now have had decay in my roots and fillings put in.

So far, I still have not given in to getting my teeth removed and having dentures. The dentist can only fill so many cavities in the roots which have crowns attached. Soooooo not sure I can hold off much longer the denture. Also, I am a "sweet a-holic" which of course adds to my decay issues.

Is it possible to have cavities removed to a point where they can be crowned/capped over a period of time? Do you have any teeth that aren't with decay? Because of course, crowns/caps can be expensive too.

I use Colgate Peroxyl as a mouth Rinse (it contains 1.5% Hydrogen Peroxide) every night after flossing/brushing and using a rubber tip to stimulate my gums. The Peroxyl has helped with some of the bacteria issues. I have used this nightly for many years.

I did see a perdontist who wanted to do one implant in the middle of an area where I have had two molars removed. He would put one implant in between the area instead of two implants. I was scheduled to have this done in February, along with gum surgery on my upper front teeth/crowns area, but cancelled. I have been dealing with surgical issues as well as dealing with a lot of pain. I just wasn't up to having the periodontal work done.

Not sure this is of any help; but thought I would give you some input..
