Last update on this as I had my 2 month appointment since sinus communication with OS today and he says the gum has closed over now. Great news. Granulation tissue has almost gone. I am still going to take things easy for a while and carry on with salt water rinses for a while, just in case its a thin coverage. He said it will take several months to fully heal.
