Bleeding after bone graft replacement surgery
Hi, this is my first time posting here and I'd appreciate any and all advice as I can't reach my dentist till Monday! I have periodontitis and had bone graft replacement surgery on the right half of my mouth on Thursday, 3/1, to counteract some of the bone loss. Day of surgery was smooth.
The next day, 3/2, I noticed a tiny bit of bleeding after gently brushing my teeth on the OTHER side. By lunch time, it had turned into a lot of bleeding and I bled pretty much consistently for 13 hours. At one point I called my dentist, who told me to call her back if I filled up a pad of gauze with thick red blood. I did, so I called her back, but she had closed for the weekend. I went to urgent care later that night after it had gotten pretty bad and they just gave me more gauze and didn't know what to tell me.
Today, 3/3, I was fine ALL DAY until evening. I woke up from a nap with thick red blood (with clots) oozing in my mouth. It has not stopped for a few hours now. I have bitten down on damp gauze a few times but it eventually soaks through.
What should I do? Should I go to a different, emergency dentist (which my insurance won't cover) or should I give another day and see how it goes? I also worry that the gauze is only irritating the site more, but I don't know how else to stop the bleeding.
THANK YOU!
